Photoshop CS4 GPU acceleration problem

Hey all,

So I got the newest Photoshop CS4, which supports GPU acceleration. But when I run PS, it says it can't detect my GPU, telling me I need to update my driver and GPU. I got a GTX295 with the newest 182.08 drivers, so I seriously doubt that's the problem. I deactivated multi-GPU acceleration for it, but it still wouldn't use it. It's the same for both x86 and x64 versions.

Anyone have any ideas?

try an older driver.... if that is the newest driver for a fairly new GPU, then it cold be that Photoshop doesn't support that driver yet..... roll it back to the previous driver and see what happens.

I use 182.08 and my GPU acceleration works fine in Photoshop CS4. It's probably because you're using a new card which isn't supported by Photoshop. Be sure to update Photoshop to 11.01 and try the graphics card plugin from here:

Oh, I forgot about this thread O.o!

Anyway, I tried using an older driver but that didn't change anything. I got version 11.01 and tried the graphic cards plugin, but either they don't work or I don't know how to add them correctly. Is there a special way you need to add them, since they are all registry files?

You just double click the registry file and restart Photoshop and it should work. Go to preferences inside Photoshop and under performance, see if you can tick the GPU acceleration box.

Did that and nothing happened, it's still the same as before. The Detect GPU field is all greyed out. I suspect that it's my GTX 295 that's not supported. I could try to reinstall Photoshop but I doubt that will change anything.

A reinstall may help, I am not sure what else to suggest.

Just re-installed, added the plugins, and it's STILL the same. Nothing changed. Tried both x86 and x64 versions, switched off SLI, reinstalled GPU drivers, nothing. Meh.

EDIT: Noticed that after the re-install it's back to version 11.0, so I'm updating to 11.01, but I don't get my hopes up.

EDIT 2: As expected, updating didn't do anything. I'm at a loss here, I don't know what else I can do to get it work.
