k i need some expert's advice
between sundering, vampiric and ebon which does more dps for each situation?
1. if your opponent is using a shield +10vs slash and +7vs physical weapon
2. if your opponent is using a shield +10vs slash and a +30hp item
3. if your opponent is wielding a caster set like wand and offhand
thanks!
i just realized how this could be tested effectively. using a no req weapon with fixed damage and applying the different hilts or whatever on it. still i'm sure someone here has alreay tested this.
vamp vs sund vs ebon weapon

or, you can just use the damage reduction equation and crunch some numbers. for your reference:
final damage = initial damage X (.5)^((AL-60)/40)
so, a +10AL will equate to a 16% damage reduction. +17AL is 25.5%.
also, keep in mind that damage reduction based on AL is based on percentage, while vampiric is a constant +3. this means ebon will start doing more damage than vampiric if your base weapon damage gets high enough.

Sundering seems to be the thing in PvE but in PvP its all about the vamp or ebon. Ebon is used for wars becuase it does more dmg?

Yes, ebon is used against wars because they have a bonus against physical damage.
I'd prefer vamp. Works in all situations without being conditioned by the enemy's armor/profession. But then I'm a PvE player, so what do I know?

Well, first of all, you didn't really give us enough information. The armor rating of the target foe would make a difference. For example, a Warrior would have extra armor against physical, a Ranger would have extra armor against elemental damage. You don't say what type of weapon you are using either - what it's base damage is, etc..
Secondly, sundering and vamp don't alter the type of damage - it could be slashing, piercing, or blunt, or even ele, with some spells.
Thirdly, ebon is elemental damage, and in each of your "scenarios" it wouldn't actually matter which type of elemental damage you do. The type of ele damage would only matter if the target had a piece of equipment or armor that has a buff vs a particular ele type, such as vs fire, or vs cold.
So:
1. Elemental damage would do better against this combo because all the bonuses are vs physical damage, not elemental. (Unless the target is a Ranger)
2. The only thing that would matter here is whether or not the damage is "slashing" as opposed to piercing or blunt. Otherwise, the answer depends upon the armor buffs of the target (as in, Warrior, Ranger, etc.)
3. Here, the only thing that matters is the targets armor, since the caster set does nothing to buff damage protection.

Vampiric if you're confident in your/hero's ability to heal up the health loss when out of combat.
Sundering if you want more damage.
Ebon if your build requires it. (Such as [[Ebon Dust Aura] blind bots).

yea i forgot to mention the type of damage is slashing from an axe.
so i suppose in a nut shell.
1. generally elemental against wars
2. vampiric against everyone else
