One of the things I've always liked about GW is that you really don't need money to have fun.
I used to play another MMORPG that shall go nameless, and you couldn't do anything without either having a boatload of money or spending 99.9% of your time leveling some stupid skill so you could do a quest. Decent armor would set you back over 1 million gold pieces. Decent weapons almost as much. And they wondered why they had such problems with gold sellers. Their economy sucked.
GW, in my opinion, has none of those issues. I don't find any of it unpleasant or a grind. Exploring and/or completeing quests gives you enough money to get what you need for your character. Weapon drops are relevant and usually useful to a character at that point/level. Now that most of my characters are lvl 20, I'm getting excellent gold drops and great items from high level chests and weapons I don't need ATM I can save for either my heros or another character. Just from running around and exploring, two of my characters have elite armor, and although it's fancy, it's not required. My ranger has regular armor and that's fine by me, I'm in no hurry to get her elite. It's all very laid back.
So really, you don't need tons of money.
