Hey all!

Will it really increase gw speed if I add 2GBs RAM DDR2 on my computer?

CPU

AMD athlon 64 3200+ 2000 Mhz core speed

My current ram is 512 ddr2

videocard 6600 LE 128 mb Nvidia.

I cant say that my GWs fps is really bad now. But... I have to wait long, when wanna teleport to kamadan and there are like 20dis... I have terrible lag on 1USA dis at storage. If I go uw(for example) from 1usa dis, I always have to wait like 35 sec to load. WHen I enter battle, there is like 2sec lag, which makes me angry...
Will additional ram remove these little issues? I can spend money only for ram.
I am afraid that, my comp is kind a weak, and the whole power of 2 gb wont be realized on it...
Thanks all!

from 512 MB? yes, it should substantially decrease your loading time.

just make sure to have matching RAM sticks, otherwise your system stability will go down the pooper, assuming it even works.

yes, that RAM increase will give you a faster GW experience - now your system is a little old, so don't expect bleeding edge speeds, but it WILL give you a performance boost.

as long as the stats on the ram are the same, you might be ok. plus definitely dont try overclocking.
Mine has a kingston 1g and a ocz 1gb and never had an issue

Adding 2GB of RAM will cause your whole computer to speed up not just Guild Wars. I'm not sure where you were looking to get RAM from but your location says you are in the US.

A set of 2 1GB DDR2 sticks will cost around $20. From Newegg.com you can order 2 2GB DDR2 sticks for $43.99 with free shipping and a $20 rebate. So after you get the rebate which you will if you actually send it off, you will get 4GB of RAM for $23.99. You can find them here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227269

Note that you are more than likely running a 32bit OS. Your computer will only address around 3.25-3.5GB of RAM. Putting the full 4GB won't hurt anything though. And if you were going to spend $20 on 2GB, why not just spend $24 and get 4GB?

wow guys! Thanks you all! It was so sweet to read ( I am a little bit newb...) But another quick question. I have 1 stick of 512 mb. I gonna buy 2 sticks (1stick= 1 sweet gb ). SO I will have 2.5 gb. Is it working combination? My current motherboard is 761GXM-M from Elitegroup. OS -WIn Xp. Mine current 512mb ddr2 stick is 533 Mhz. Whats better?

1) will 2gb on 800 mhz work with 512 on 533?( I think no... but just curious)
2) Is it better to take away 512 ddr on 533 and put 2 new and fresh sticks on 800?

Whats written in motherboards manual.

Supports DDR 2 800/667/533/400/ DDR SDRAM with Dual-channel DDR2 achitecture.
Accomades two unbuffered DIMMs,with maximum memory size up to 16GB.

Thanks All!

It will only take two - ditch the 512MB. If it HAD had three slots, the memory would have worked together but the whole lot would only have run at the speed of the slowest stick, in your case 533MHz.

get the 4GB for $24 - you can't go wrong there, and your system will be up to date for a good while to come.

it depends on the motherboard. some will let you, others will simply refuse to boot. even then, there's a chance of stability problems.

in OP's case, it probably will not. his system is quite outdated, and any new RAM sticks he gets will likely be dramatically faster. if his motherboard allows him to mix and match, the new sticks will run at the same speed as the old one.

since snograt has already pointed out that his board can only take two sticks, the OP will replace the old RAM anyways, so this is basically a non-issue.

nope, you will keep your leg, only it will be a bit less.
i got an quad core, 4GB ram, insane VGA card and i still lag, only what is internet or server lag.
some PC's only work with maching RAM, my PC gives an blue screen when i put 1 times 1GB in it and 1 time 2GB.
2 times 2 GB from different brands works a bit better but causes random errors.
2 times 2GB kingston works perfect.

Oh riktw. Dats really sad.
Guys, btw I found intresting table in my manual.

Table. DDR2 QVL(Qualified Vendor Test). The following ddr2 memory modules have been tested and qualified for use with this motherboard.

I c kind a big table. NOw I check Size...aha found area with 1 GB size but I dont see here TwinMos...LOL. Here are like Apacer,GEIL,Infineon,KIngmax.UMAX. So if I use TwinMos my system will crash...? Is it like this?

get yourself high performance/gaming memory. alot of brands there on newegg.com for $30 or under like corsiar after rebate $19. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

A dual channel kit will be fine for the remaining life of your computer pretty much. Especially if your not running vista. Don't spend much more money on your comp since your going to start being bottlenecked by CPU and graphics card for future gaming. Save up your money so in awhile you can try building your own computer
