600 monk hero always dying
mr600
So i finished the 600 monk and hero build for CoF and for some reason, the hero is always dying. I use the Mo/N smiter build from wiki, and me being the tank. Ok, so I'll flag the hero well away, and aggro some enemies, but for some reason my monk hero will start losing health in chunks and most of the time dies. There are no conditions/hexes on it, and i have tried disabling all its skills. Whats the reason for this?
I have another question too... If i minimize the game screen, open a web page, and go back to the game, the characters jump around. Like i move smoothly, but other players/heroes/henchmen/enemies stand still and just "teleport" to another spot instead of them running. Is this a normal problem?

LOL
a 600 AND a tank...?
a 600 AND a tank...?
Evil Eye
By tank he means, he is the 600. Stupid. He is asking why his hero loses health while he is being attacked.

The Monks in CoF use [reversal of damage]. THis skill does damage to the source of the damage. Since the source of the damage is Holy Wrath or Retribution (both), the damage is dealt to the Smite Monk who provided those enchantments. Make sure you read the PvX build info carefully. It should tell you which order to place the bonds, and you either have to modify the build to provide the smite hero with a self heal, or take someone to heal him for you.
I personally think the PvX build is crap. It requires other people to complete the dungeon by using heals on the smiter and bringing LoD for the treasures. I modified it and my Smiter heals himself, and I bring LoD for the treasures as well as more damage to the monsters.

Two issues, the order in which you cast your smite enchantments makes a difference (don't remember order off the top of my head, sorry), and if you have no one there to heal the mo/n it won't survive long. When I run by myself, I bring 3 heroes though 2 should work fine. The other monk(s) has succor, mending (for smiter), UA, and healing skills. If you use a third hero bring Unyielding Veil, UA and succor (for yourself) and more healing.

The enemies are using [reversal of damage]. You need to have your smiter put [retribution] on you BEFORE he puts [holy wrath] on you. That way, the damage he takes from reversal will be based on the retribution.

Or try what I do:
600
[protective spirit][spirit bond][shield of absorption][spell breaker][light of deldrimor][essence bond][vital blessing][blessed aura]
12+1+3 Protection Prayers (yep, I use a Superior on my 600)
12+1 Divine Favor
Smiter
[holy wrath][retribution][blessed signet][signet of devotion][blood is power][balthazar's spirit][succor][purge signet]
12+1+3 Smiting Prayers
12+1 Divine Favor
3 Blood Magic
The smiter uses Signet of Devotion to keep himself alive, I have 2 pips of energy regen, and LoD to reveal treasures and do damage. I rarely need to use Purge SIgnet, but it helps at times. If I do die, which is rare, I rez and the hero ports with me since there is no rez on him. If I go with other people, I give him Rebirth instead of Purge Sig.
But yes, put the enchants on in the right order or the damage is too high. The damage dealt to the hero is based on the FIRST packet of damage from Retribution and Holy Wrath, not both. So you want the damage to come from Retribution, not Holy Wrath.

Since your hero is going to have his energy bar at 0 all the time, in order for him to survive add some signets for self heal. That should take care of the problem.
I run that build and with the signets is more than enough for my hero to survive.
Edit: Thanks MagmaRed, I was going to put those signets for him but you beat me to it for 2 min

@MagmaRed Awesome! I hadn't considered losing [life attunement], but if it works for you, I'm sure it will work for me. :-)

Thanks a lot for the help and suggestions, but my hero still dies, even with signet of devotion. I might just experiment with different builds for now and see what happens. Also, many people say that a 600 monk is currently the most profitable thing in the game. I have been doing part of CoF with my monk like 5 times now, and i haven't gotten that much money(1k maybe). For me its slow and confusing.

Personally I would disagree with those saying monk is most profitable.
I run Delves with my assassin @14k so 98k total in 20 minutes 300k an hour
But as far as not seeing much money in CoF there's 2 reasons for that.
1 if you go alone you won't make much the drops in that chest are crap.
2 even if you run [email protected] eating that's still only 12k in about 30 minutes once you are good enough at it. IMO CoF is more of a 600 pratice dungeon
Then once you feel comfortable with it you move on to bigger and better dungeons. As far as your smiter dying goes until you get the hang of it bring a healer hero for your smiter.

1k? I run my 3 heroes (I'm lazy) and make 8 -12k per run selling everything that drops, though I open all chests also, treasure hunter ftw

@Pinkest - so you put Protective Bond on the smiter? I didn't know it worked on the damage from Reversal I can see how it would work nicely
mr600
Thanks again for the builds and suggestions, but i still cant get through the dungeon which is very frustrating. I now bring a healer hero to heal the smiter which works well. But when the heroes are flagged away, they run to where i am and try to heal me, which kills them. Is there another easier dungeon without reversal of damage?
MagmaRed
Flag them properly and they won't be running in to heal you. Also, you can lock the healer onto a target (Smiter) and it will only heal that character. If you put 8 or more points into Divine Favor, the heal from Signet of Devotion would be enough to counter Reversal of Damage. Make sure you are having the smiter apply Retribution FIRST, then Holy Wrath.

Yes,as long as you don't over cast [Spirit Bond] and cast [Shield of Absorption] before energy denial[Fear Me]hits you , it works lovely.
I can aggro as many Banshees as i want and Ogden @385 HP keeps himself alive.

Alright, i have run CoF three times now, getting slightly better each time. I die here and there but its ok. I am still trying to get a green out of the chest, but it will hopefully come eventually. Thanks everyone for the help!
