Active Administrators
Stop The Storm
every day i sit in kamadan and see lvl3 players buying and selling their accounts. They spam twice then leave the district so you cant report them. Maybe guildwars needs active administrators, who you can PM any time you want to report people. Im sure anet could find some people, even just unpaid volunteers, who want to make the game better to do this?
alternativley, they could make the /report feature so it applies to anyone who is online, even if set as "offline". Even if they change districs, you can still report them and have them dealt with.
The current way simply isnt working, i know anet say they ban thousands of accounts each week, but i know from personal experience, ill see at least 4-5 different sellers selling their accounts each day that im online.

I think we should go admin players. If arenanet notices a player being good, never broke rules etc. They will have the ability to /report players outside of towns. Arenanet will get those /reports faster and ban faster.

meh, current system is in place the way it is to avoid abuse. Non-paid volunteers with power is scary lol. reporting from anywhere will allow those players that don't care about being punished themselves to abuse the hell out of the report function. if ur that concerned about account traders, sit in one district with their name pre-typed and wait for them to appear again. It's annoying but nothing is perfect.

and it isnt my job to sit and report people, i will if i see them, but when they are switching districts very quickly, its hard to do that, hence the thread lol

I would enjoy have GMs that are actually GMs. If you've ever sent in a support ticket, you know what I mean: whoever answers it signs it "GM ____."
In truth, they aren't GMs. Not in the sense of most MMOs anyway.
So /signed for actual Game Masters. If ANet chose them out of the community, that could cause problems, since people aren't being paid, therefore they aren't held to the higher standard that an employee would be held to.

Chosen out of the community? Absolutely not. Doing that's like asking for an accident happen.
Working with the actual Guild Wars team? Sure why not.
I've never found myself at the grip of a ban or even a caution on most things, and definately not Guild Wars, and trust me, to give someone a position like that for such a small "cost", so to speak, will still cause problems.

While this would be nice, dont forget they probably dont have the man-power to do something like this.
In the end, I'd much rather have them dedicate more time/people to concentrating on more important things that affect a lot more people in GW. People tend to focus on one issue that bothers them, yet forgetting about the "big picture." The fact is, game of this size always has to look at the bigger picture. Things take time/money/people. Theres a saying that actually annoys me a little, but its true whether i like it or not.
The dollar only stretches so far.
Be patient. Anet is doing and will continue to the best they can.
I mean really if everyone wants, they could always change their number one claim to fame. They could start charging a monthly fee, allowing them to bring on board many more employees to deal with all the problems.

For the effort it would take for ANet to find the right players to play GM and to watch over them to not let them abuse their powers, ANet may as well hire people they know to play the part.
In either case, whoever wants to call themselves GMs ought to be in-game, interacting with the players and personally solving issues that come up.

So basically ANet get a bunch of random players who are 'good' to stand around and report people? I'd rather not have carebears moderating my chat and reporting me for stupid stuff. We need GM's and people who actually read reports, not player administrators.
moriz
power corrupts. absolute power corrupts absolutely. the same applies to randomly picked GMs.
Hanging Man
I would like to see this actually
although, on the hindsight there is always the abuse factor lurking over you.
maybe we could get people who work for gw to be active admins.
Also I would /sign for reporting people out of the same district.

ok youve took what i said completely out of context
i 100% agree with you that picking random "good" people out of the community would be a bad idea, it would lead to problems, thats not what i said. i said unpaid volunteers.
im sure anet has many many friends and people who would be happy to fill the role of an admin/gm whatever youd like to call it and solve in game issues real time, instead of having to go through a ticket system etc
i think people who work for anet would want to be paid for this though, i dunno, i could be wrong, maybe some of the players wouldnt mind giving up a couple hours each day to do some active gming?

DTA: Don't Trust Anyone.
Seriously, with a game currently almost begging people not to join with other actual human players, you think anyone would be willing to let "Random Person #7747-B" be able to decide what is just and not.
Better off just making it if that three people report someone for the same reason within a 3 minute time-frame regardless of location, then that person is unallowed to use the local chat for some amount of time.
Then again, taking what I just said, you'd have a group of three people being complete idiots and forcing a bunch of people to be unable to talk because of a bigger idiotic reason.
In the end, you have to find someone who everyone can trust. With the status Guild Wars is in right now, you have a better chance beating Hell's Precipice solo with a Paragon than seeing anything get changed about the reporting system.
That's my two cents and possibly a nickel thrown in too.

24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week. I highly doubt anyone would volunteer more than 1 day a week, and at most 4 hours that day. If people are already playing, they won't want to stop playing to monitor cities for chat abuse, botting, account sales/hacks, etc. Not to mention the number of location that would need to be monitored. Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, Kamadan, Shing Jea Monestary, Ascalon City (pre and post), Droknar's Forge, Eye of the North, Doomlore Shrine, Gunnar's Hold, Rata Sum..... and probably several others I forgot about.
If people are going to stop playing to GM, they will want to be paid. In game rewards will NOT be acceptible.
I MAY be alone in this view, but I just don't see this as POSSIBLE without a monthly fee to play and paid GMs from Anet staff.

If you really want to volunteer your time, anyone can do this, and it's been possible for years. Just screen shot the chat after the account or gold buyers/sellers, etc. attempt their escape, and go to:
http://www.guildwars.com/support/
Provide your character name, time, location name and district, and the name of the account seller, attach the screen shot, and done. Make up a form letter to copy/paste info into if you want to save time typing more than once. If you really want to be a zealot about it, you could open a browser directly on the "Rules Violation" category, or whatever section it is in support, have a form letter pasted in the text window, and then it would take only seconds to minimize GW, fill in the blanks, and submit a report.

The sad truth is: Anet doesn't get paid to care. They get paid to work on the next game, sequel, expansion, etc.. Once they have your money, they'll make a few modifications (good or bad, doesn't much matter to them because they don't get payed any extra for their quality) and they're off to make the next big hit!
Money talks, and with this being freeplay & all, I'm surprised they haven't came out with a Dishonor System, abusable Report System, nerfed skills to dust (i.e.: smiter's boon, shroud of silence, head butt, etc..).. /endsarcasm

/report won't work? Screenshot(s), email with brief description works wonders.

Takes a few minutes, but if they bother you enough to come here and say something about, say it where it will do some good.
Been there, done that. It does work.

I really like this idea. Zoning scammers are annoying.Only way to report them is to make a support ticket.

First of all I would like the report function to be altered so you can report players who have left the area, that would solve a good deal.
Secondly I think it would help a lot to have a real GM monitoring chat in kamadan just a few times a day. I think if the account scammers learn theres a bigger change to get busted they might slow down a bit.
Third, I dont like the idea of giving players powers. It would only be a question of time before we would have the first scandal with someone abusing it.
