Bad Warrior

Hello everyone. As the title notes, I am getting destroyed on my warrior. I recently started playing GW and the first character I made was a necro. I really enjoyed leveling my necro but now at level 20, I am pretty bored. I am playing as minion master which is cool and makes it pretty easy to tear through monsters and quests but it isn't really...interesting. I mostly just summon stuff and watch it go kill things for me and for the most part all I really need to do is keep them alive and summon more. Simply put, it isn't the game, or necessarily the character, but the way I play makes it a bit too easy and mindless.

I have always enjoyed melee classes but I thought I would try a ranged character but as noted, I am a little sick of it. I created a warrior (NF) and he is currently level 7 and I really enjoy playing him but compared to my necro (when it was the same level) I am getting obliterated. Things go fine at the start but when you get to Jokanur Diggings and Champion's Dawn missions where the mobs are a bit higher level and grouped, I am dying way too easily. Again, I know this isn't so much a problem with the class but rather with the way I am playing it.

I have respecced Dunkoro, my monk hero to protection(previously was smite) and when I have some time I will be trying again with Healer, Dunkoro, myself and another ranged DPS hench. As I haven't really had time to try this new grouping out, I am not sure if it will be as successful as I am hoping but simply put, can anyone shed some light on some playing tips as a low level warrior?

To anyone who read this in its entirety, thank you. For tldr'ers:

I am a bad warrior because it is different than other MMORPG melee classes I have played before. I am level 7, I only have NF, how can I stop being terrible.

Thank you!

Well for one, try to match the level of stuff in Jokanur Diggings... Foes are level 8-13, and being as a 7, that already puts a mark against you.

Well that makes sense I suppose. I went there around the same level on my necro doing the same quests so I thought it was normal to be a bit outleveled as that is where the quests told me to go

definitely try to get the max armor u can. maybe try to lvl up some. there arent many specialized builds u can run at that low lvl. maybe if u have some high lvl friends or guildies, they could come help. lvl 20's will rip through that area.

yeah don't rush through the game. take some time level up a little, cartographer noob island so you don't have to later.
Check to make sure you have the highest armor available.
make sure you meet the reqs of your weapon and shield.
and it is tough for a little warrior to do much when your at such a low level.
Stick it out, you'll be killing stuff soon enough

Firstly, here is a link to the stickied warrior basics thread in the Campfire section Warrior subforum http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10326347
It will cover most of what you need to know as a beginning warrior.

Secondly, stop comparing your warrior to your necro. The necro, as a caster, was never intentionally in the middle of a fight. His minions played that role.

Your level 7 warrior needs his/her armor buffs, health runes, good skills, a decent weapon and a good healer. He needs a longbow for pulling so he doesn't get overwhelmed by a mob. He needs to be at a comparable level to the mobs he is fighting.

Once you reach level 20, with max armor, and better skills, you will find that it is easier to beat higher level mobs.

My warrior is my main character. She is great fun to play and only dies when I do something idiotic.

Do things in this order.
1) armor
2) skills
3) level
4) weapon

PM me, I'll be happy to help you with builds and possibly armor.

Wow, thanks for the huge response and tips. Definitely going to be spending some time looking over the warrior guide.

I had another thought, since I just did the quests to get off of noob island on my necro, it isn't too exciting to do them all over again on my warrior. I was thinking about starting my warrior on a different chapter of GW (only have NF right now), which chapter would you recommend or should I just stick with NF?

^ Well, I suggest Prophecies But that's just because I think it's the best game, and the warriors look the best..

i'd agree, go with prophecies for a while it can never be too hard there, whenever you get stuck you can usually just level up or get the local armor and then you'll clear through the missions, and the stories great too. Factions is good too personally i like NF the least (not saying its a bad game just gets a bit stale if you're like me and suck more than humanley possible at HM and elite areas)

I have the Trilogy & Eye of the North. I've only visited Cantha and Elona, so I can't really judge them, but I definitely like having a warrior in the Prophecies campaign.

I had just the opposite problem. I couldn't keep my Necro alive past a certain point. She was my first character, though, so I was still learning. I'm now running a W/N & was able to breeze through the first 15 or so of the Prophecies missions.

EotN is also great. It seems to be the most active spot in GW right now if you like crowds.

I would get EoTN. More heroes, more skills, better rewards, etc.

definatly prophecies, long and interesting(at least for the first time) storyline, the most free skills(from quests) and a good learning stage(pre searing). all in all prophecies was really meant for new players, when you're supposed to be below level 20 for quite some time, which lets you learn your class slowly and experiment with the different skills you get access to. the other campaigns have a noob island for you to reach almost level 20 in and than jump right into the deep water.

oh and 1 last thing, get used to repeating quests over and over again. you will be forced to do it if you wish to play more than 1 character(you already have 2). there are also some areas with repeatable quests, which means you can do them over and over again, mainly for farming purposes. I for one(and plenty of others also) have all 8 character slots full, all of these characters are level 20 and did a lot of quests at least 8 times, once with each character. so you really should start to get used to that if you like variaty.

I would stay with NF as starting point, since that is the place to start of with heroes. It will help you tremendously if you can get your triple necro setup going at some point.

Another thing to note:

You stated that you had no healer. As a necro you could get away with that as your mob of minions were able to handle that. As a warrior you ARE the mob of minions. You need a healer to keep you alive.

Unless I misread your post. It kinda jumbled at the Dunkoro respec section.
