Hallo.
I've been away from GW for a very long time and want to play again, but i can't get the darn game to start.
I downloaded the game via the client, but it mostly crashes before I can even get to the log in screen. The game freezes, so I have to c+a+d to close the program.
I've managed to successfully get to the login screen a handful of times, but when I do, the game freezes up again right as I sign in.
This only happens when I try to play GW. All my other games work perfectly fine.
My specs are as follows.
Q9550
4GB RAM
4870 X2 [9.2 drivers]
Vista U 64 SP1
Thanks in advance.

Check your firewall, or check were your playing.
Ex. a school won't let guild wars to log in.

I heard that guildwars might have a problem with the multiple cores but thats only a rumour

If I were you, I would check PSU that would supports your system without crashing games. Although, you said that your other games work just fine. Maybe your GW data is corrupted, try reinstall GW. Or try to turn off Vista's lame security warning thingie (I believe it called account control) that would do the trick.
I don't think that rumor about the multiple cores is true, because I'm running dual CPU cores and it works just fine on GW.

for vista i have to right-click and select run as admin for it to work

i don't know GW is optimized for crossfire, so i would try running it on one GPU. also, turn off graphic card overclocking if you have it on. GW is rather picky with hardware stability, and will crash an otherwise stable system.

Thanks for all the help.
Unfortunately, I still can't get the game to work.
I've tried rolling back my vid drivers to [8.xx], running the game as admin, running it in single core, checking for firewall issues etc. but it still doesn't work.
I'm reluctant to format my hard drive just for this one game, and also cause I have a ton of stuff that needs backing up.
Guess I won't be coming back after all.
ps. I run a single 4870X2 [not crossfire]
