Re-installing Game

I stopped playing Guild Wars nearly two years ago and I am thinking of playing again. However, in that time span, I have switched to using a different computer. I would like to know if I would be able to use the same games that I used to initially install the campaigns on my original computer to install onto the computer that I am currently on, or if I would have to buy the campaigns again in order to play. (I remember the e-mail and password that I used for the account that i used to play on, if that helps.)

Yep, use the discs to install the client, or Download the client from the GW website and then play.

Yes, you can use the same discs. It's WAY faster than downloading the areas while you play too. Your account is the only that matters to play the game, the discs are just time savers (why I think disc images of Guild Wars discs should be legal... it only allows people to install the game, not necessary play, but it saves a bunch of time).

Okay, thank you, what my main worry for doing this was that the serial numbers wouldn't work during the instalation process. Time to dig the games back up from my room.

You don't need serial numbers for installation, those are put on your GW account. I don't think anything is really required during installation, is it?

If your game disks are that old, it won't save much download time. But install using the newest campaign you have and then, while sleeping or away from home, use the -image command to download all the updates.

This will do away with the lengthy loads as you change areas while playing.

If you have never done the -image command, here is a link to the wiki page.

Welcome back to GW.

I just reinstalled it as well. It would be better if you install it off the game disk as it saves time. Ugh, I hate -image'ing. Last time, it took me all night. Que_Que.

I've reinstalled both ways and using the discs is a lot faster.

Ya, didn't need the serial numbers , but surprisingly enough, the first load screen took about 10 minutes, then it was like the last time i played was yesterday and it was all running fairly quickly. And (big joy time) my internet didn't disconnect after exiting out of the game like it did on my old computer!!!!!
