Why 720 All of a Sudden?
FengShuiDove
This may fit more under game discussion, but I'm hoping for a short and sweet answer. All of a sudden people are trying to sell things in packs of 720 in spam towns (primarily Kamadan of course) instead of stacks, xx = 100k, or xx = unit price.
First I noticed this with lockpicks, which makes sense. 720 * 1.25k = 900k, so I imagine it makes calculating trade values easier. Buy 720 picks, get 10 trades of 72 lockpicks for 90k each trade. But I've seen it all over, and with all different types of "bulk" items from holiday items (Shamrock Ales, Four Leaf Clovers this weekend) to Superb Charr Carvings and other collectibles.
Am I becoming Jim Carrey in the movie 23, or is there some rhyme or reason behind the number 720 for sale quantity?

I haven't seen this yet. I would guess that somebody saw 720 lockpicks for sale a few times and thought that was the norm for other things too.
Or, quite possibly, you are imagining this, and that it was just a coincidence.

I'd have to agrees with TheodenKing, I haven't seen this in towns at all, could just be a coincidence that two people decided to do that or someone saw that someone else was selling in 720 and that that was normal. I've definitely seen lockpicks being sold this way, and maybe people are selling holiday items and other items this way due to easy trade, but I see no other reason to be selling in bulks of 720. And unless to sell again, there is no real point in selling SCC in bulks of 720 if you only need a stack of them for the gloves, or for someone who wants a hell of a lot of Wintersday goodies.

Obsession with 720p? Will you next being seeing 1080 stacks? Really no reason I can think of except synchronicity... maybe the number is important to YOU but nobody else.

yeah some punk kid pulled off a 720 on his snowboard and can't get enough of the number now.... 1080 coming up when Sean White starts playing GW.... :P
seriously - I hadn't noticed this either, and I usually hang out on Spamadan abit when I'm logged in.

Even the people selling "720 picks" seem to be doing business as usual. I generally buy 40 at a time and all of the people I dealt with just handed them over and took my money as always. Nobody asked that I change my request to 72 or 36 or any other number that fit some pattern.

100k/720 = 138g each. So the maximum amount of items you can get for 100k.
Goes for all Sweet/Drunkard/Party/Luck items with a worth from 120g-150g.
I guess the Lockpick person was just confused, as you would have to trade multiple times if you want to sell 720 LP's.

It does have one benefit, though. It tells you the seller can supply any number of picks you are likely to want in one trade. An ordinary "WTS Picks" could be somebody trying to unload three picks he got while leveling a pet on the wurms, so you always have to ask "do you have xx of them?" With the 720 seller, you just say "I'd like xx please". I rather like the speed and convenience since I hate shopping, so I tend to patronize those sellers now.

Maybe they only had 720 lockpicks on them??

Many lockpick buyers are looking to do so in bulk (Treasure hunter title seekers). So, the sellers are stocking up in multiples of 80 (80*1,250 = 100K) By advertising that they've got a large quantity, they're going to attract buyers.
