New Twist to the Cartographer title

This doesnt change anything of the current Title just adding a map you can complete and its optional means that you dont have to carry around a map and pencil to get grandmaster cartographer

The Life of Cartographer

If you carry a blanco map and a pencil (Bought from any merchant 500g map 250g pencil) everytime you go out and explore lands your character makes a little piece of a map(tyrian,cantha,elona).

there are a few completion points of the cartographer map :

60%,70%,80,90%,95% and 100% completed

now i got this idea you can turn maps in for money (money depends on completion)

60% = 2,5k for cantha and elona and 5k for prophecies
70% = 5k for cantha and elona and 7,5k for prophecies
80% = 10k for cantha and elona and 20k for prophecies
90% = 25k for cantha and elona and 35k for prophecies
95% =35k for cantha and elona and 50k for prophecies
100% = 50k for cantha and elona and 75k for prophecies

If you already completed some of the map before anet adds this content then you can buy areas for 10g each (Only once per area)

You can repeat this as much as you want

I got this idea from the Hero and Dungeon Handbooks of Eotn
Its especially for people who dont like farming and like to chill and explore (AKA rollplaying) and still get their money for 15k/10k armor

If you leave the map into the storage and go out nothing will happen to the map but you will still get % towards the title

Any Opinions and Advices are welcome

texmod doesnt make it any quicker you still will need to hug the walls in all areas

Adding more junk to carry around just to get more free money is a waste of time.

Don't really see the issue. Think about how long it would take to get even 60% map completion from scratch (ie, when you pick the map up from the merchant). 2.5k for that is a pittance compared to what you can get if you spent that time farming, likewise for 100% completion. Maybe 50k/75k is a bit much, but there could be some value in there that's reasonable.

That said, I doubt there's any easy way they could code this.

It's a good idea, and I don't think people will use it everyday for a free 50k. You will need quite some work before you can actually get the money. Only problem is I need to explore the continents again...

Nice idea sits nicely alongside the EotN style books. I think the cash amounts a a bit out, but yeah it works for me.

Get something other than a title for completing one of if not the most useless achievements in the game? Sure.

Do you lose the amount of progress you've made to the buyer though?

The buyer would be an npc not requiring advancement in cartography.

Grandmaster Cartographer = You are a grandmaster cartographer AKA remapping the whole thing would be a piece of cake for you

since i already have legendary cartographer would i get 1 free filled in map or would i have to go remap to get the first one done?

Lets say 10g per area sounds fair right?

I can remake a char and have 60% of map within a couple hours.
Cartography is not hard 100% can be achieved in a matter of a few hours I know ive done it.

well i have legendary cartographer myself i wouldn't mind money for my work. After all the books offer gold upon completion as well.

I wouldn't remap the campaign again myself for a long while if ever.


edit: Well the problem may arise now that there are perma sins you can rerun some things pretty fast so you could run a campiagn with ease.

Back in the days (AKA 2006) I was mapping with shadow form ..

so basicly for paying round about 15k for all areas, i get 200k in return, cmon XTH is enaugh already.

Btw, you already get paid for cartographer if you vanquish while you are doing it.

You could make far, far more gold farming in the hours it would take you to map up to 60% than you would by just running around mapping as fast as you can.

Lourens i am confused...listen to who? you might want to elaborate to make this easier to understand. If its listening to Anduin, then i never said mapping wasnt work and nor did Magma. Not in my post at all. I know mapping is work because i have Legendary GM Carto titles on 3 of my toons. But the idea of taking up even more of my valuable inventory slots with two more items is absurd. Im annoyed to no end to have to carry around books. If its more gold for another title you want then i really dont care one way or the other. Who am i to turn down more of that. Just dont take away more of my valuable inventory when im already forced to carry multiple sets of armour and weapons just to do the things i need to do. Maybe after the April Storage update i will have more free room and change my mind. But until i see what that actually will be, F that on anything that stops me from picking up items i can actually sell in exchange for some pittance reward.

But the Carto titles were, imo, implemented to get players to explore and see all the wonderful sites that the Devs spent many hours working on. Kind of like showing off what they had achieved. I never felt i needed to be rewarded for taking a look, because some areas have no reason to go to whatsoever, no quests going to or in these areas, and some of the sites are quite amazing to see. The Devs have alot to be proud of in this game. Sadly, seeing these areas, and the amount of gold i acquired thru fighting enemies in those areas, was enough of a reward for me.

Would take me 20-30 minutes to get 80% or more. Mapping takes no time or effort once you have the cities opened. Now, getting 100%, yes, that takes a great deal more time, but it still isn't hard, just longer.

Bigger question would be: Do we need more ways to make money? Nope.

Not signed, like others have said XTH is enough, anywhoo on the topic of this title i always thought that it would be nice that once you got one of the titles it would let you "see" more on other areas. but maybe that will be the bonus for having it in your hom.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but it seems pretty obvious why he didn't like your idea. He doesn't want more books. Your idea is introducing 2 more items that will clutter up inventory. When the Factions and Nightfall books were added, a LOT of people complained about the inventory space these took up. Although we still have to deal with that, we don't have to want more inventory being consumed by temporary items.

Not going to happen, just like the missions books couldn't be filled in by paying per page by characters with legendary guardian.
