No one ever talks about this area and I've been curious about it as it is the only place besides UW where its monsters drop ectos, but....
It's free to enter. I've been in a few times but haven't fully gone in far. So I guess my question is, I want to start doing UW but people want you to be experienced, yet I don't know how to get the experience I need if I can't get anyone to 'train' me. Would the Tomb of the Primeval Kings be a good place to practice builds?
I have an ele/me or ele/a and I'm practicing solo UW bars would they work in the Tombs?
Any advice and/or knowledge you have on the Tombs would be greatly appreciated. Whether you hate it. Like it. Whatever. I just want to hear.
Oh, and why isn't this place more popular? It seems easier to get to.

It is actually a good place to practice using some of the UW farming builds. My first run into the UW was very enjoyable because I was comfortable with my build from doing TotPK and didn't have to worry about learning the build while also learning the environment.
As was pointed out, many of the same kinds of monsters are there. In fact, the numbers of grasps of insanity (who use fear me) are more than the grasping darkness in the UW who use the same skill so it is a very good place to practice your energy management before trying ecto runs in UW.
The 3 things that you will find different in the UW are:
bladed aatxes use deadly riposte which will damage you through shadow form if you use a melee weapon
the run to the plains (assuming that is where you will be going) requires you to avoid the charged blacknesses because their knockdown skill can hit through SF, and the behemoths because of their traps (either run around them, kill them, or use dash to get safely over the traps).
The mindblades have an anti hex spell that can be dangerous for some builds so be aware of that as you try out builds in TotPK (a build that works well in TotPK using hexes might not be effective in UW - although I believe some find ways to use them anyway)
But as far as energy management, timing, and trying out builds, TotPK is great because it's free and you lose nothing if you fail. (and the drops aren't too bad overall even if you don't get nearly as many ectos)

tombs isn't farmed too much anymore. used to be crazy when the green drops were expensive. can't really do speed clear on ele's any more, not enough att in shadow arts. tombs used to be dominated by barrage/pet teams in the past. can still be done, but need full teams for barrage. used to be able to go through the entire thing on permas before the previous timing nerf as well.

Ectos can drop in Varajar Fells with this quest, if you kept it. Inscribable UW drops from chests, too. No way I'm turning in that quest. Of course, I expect the number of accounts with this quest still available to be a rather low figure.

Our Guild uses the Tombs as a diversion/bit of fun for officers, we generally all take Rangers and Pets as in the 'good old days' as our Leader used to do runs in those teams.
It's a fun environment - a bit tougher than you normally encounter so you need to think, but not so tough you die 5 times after your 2nd step and think "stuff this - am off". The drops whilst not fantastic in terms of UW or FoW generally make one of the team go "ooooohhhhhhh" - so probably worth it and most of the team get a Green from the end monsters.
My friend and I have tried an Ele/A build she was given which uses seriously high Earth magic but it takes more patience than we have - so we use the rangers instead.
Falynn - if you want to try it some time and go in with our team to try a build, then drop me a PM and we'll see what we can arrange.
