Monk or Necromancer?
Lariv
I'm having difficulty deciding between the two of them. I like Monks because I like to support and be needed, monks are good at farming, and used everywhere. But I also like Necromancers because they can support, farm well, have many different builds, and are wanted by many. Any suggestions? Looking for a character that can farm, be used in NM/HM, is wanted by PuGs, and has multiple builds (Not just one "meta" build). Thanks!

both fits all your definitions perfectly. both are also suitable for H&Hing when you get tired of PuGs, but Necro is a bit better for that.
both can heal pretty well, N/Rt and N/Mo abusing Soul Reaping can heal/prot very well in PvE, but a good Monk will probably be a bit better. however both are very versatile and wanted...

well honestly both those classess fill the roles you described rather well. They can both farm reasonably well, don't have one single "meta" build and are always in demand.
pretty much what it comes down to is this; do you want to play support most of the time or play offensive caster most of the time?
obviously there's exceptions to both, not all monk builds are support ones and likewise not all necro builds are offensive either, but the majority of the time you will be playing support on a monk and playing offensively (be it curses minions or w/e) on a necro.

lol, he asked about Monk or Necromancer, what do Eles have to do with it?
P.S dont worry, Monks can also be offensive support characters, [ray of judgment] says hi

Necromancers are more fun, I can tell from experience.

In terms of demand, monks are definitely in greater demand than necros. Just try getting into a DoA cryway team with a necro, and compare the demand with a monk. Both are fun in their own way, although as a monk the group would probably ask you to play a support role to heal or protect.
If you dont mind being asked to bring heals/protect in almost every PUG you meet, then I would recommend a monk. Both can play support or offensive, RoJ is quite fun, and a monk certainly has more than 1 effective offensive skills than just RoJ.

simple paly both, none can tell u whether one is more fun to play than the other,u need to test them out yourself and see which one is more suitable to your playstyle. Both professions can farm, support the party and do dmg.

Okay, I've chosen a Monk, but now I'm wondering something else. Are Monks actually wanted in PuGs? Or are Heroes used instead?

both awsome charecters to use. I would have to go necro. There awsome to use
Lariv
But why should I be a Necromancer? Because they are "awsome?" I need some hard facts to support my being a Necromancer or a Monk. Maybe some builds for both that are currently in the "meta."

Not to start a huge bitchfight, but a monk takes much more skill to play well.
Consider that. Also, you won't normally be doing direct damage. That is, unless you have kitted yourself out as an offensive smiter, you will be a healer of some sort.
Psychologically, consider whether you will become bored spamming debuffs and hexes on enemies or throwing around spells on teammates.
I'm a monk personally, but I did it for the challenge.

I have no agree that Monks are much harder then Necromancers. No offense to any Necromancer users, but Monks take more skill to heal and prevent death. Necromancers cause death, one of the easier objectives to do in PvE.
