UWSC with monks

Goodday people

I started questioning myself if UWSC even is possible with monks. Because i had nothing better to do i started some investigation. These are some of my conclussions.
A. These Quests need a monk with Spell Breaker because of Interrupts / Enchantments Ripping / Life Stealing. This also means they need a second team mate to make kills. B. These Quests do not need a monk with Spell Breaker. This means these monks can make kills for themselves. C. These Quests do need Spell Breaker but because there is a other monk nearby they can use there Spell Breaker. Clearing the Chamber C. Because everyone will be there until this monk completed the quest. They can easily use Spell Breaker on him. This quest does not neccesarelly have to be done by one monk. The first monk who is aggroing the graspings to open the doors can leave after that for another quest and leave this one to some else (probebly vale monk) Unwanted Guests B. / A. This quest does not need Spell Breaker but it does make i significantly harder. On the other hand taking Spell Breaker making this quest easier does mean you need a partner to make the kills. Escort of Souls B. Excessive Interrupts and energy draining makes SB a must. Imprisoned Spirits B. / A. Life Stealing comes along here but because these excist out of particulair small groups this quest might be completed without a SB monk but it does need "I Am Unstoppable!" for the Terrorwebs in the Quest. The Four Horseman B. This quest needs 2 SB Monk or maybe even 4 because the horseman carry Signet of Humility and therefore SB might not be echoable. Wrathful Spirits A.
  • This quest does not need SB but this need an other elite like Ray of Judgment but will one be enough? Servants of Grenth A. Smites have been farmed here from the beginning of Guild Wars. Though this quest might become a problem due the Nuking comming from the terrorweb's. "I Am Unstoppable!" should help overcome this problem. Terrorweb Queen A. Same as Servants of Grenth but this one also has some toucher's with shock. Demon Assassin A. Because this area is full of obsidian behemoths with nature's renewal maintained enchantments will be out of the question here and will not be possible with a standard 55hp / 600hp bar. Or even by a monk for that matter.
    So if all my theory crafting is right we would end up something like this.

    Team C: Servants of Grenth --> Teleports to Wastes --> Terrorweb Queen

    Um I think UW can be done with 600/Smite/QZ with some modifications and people for horsemen and the terror queen in ice wastes. Rest would be medium

    UW HM can be cleared with one monk and one necro. You can just add up people and make split groups for faster runs.

    Considering that a party of 7 assasins and 1 monk or ss necro can do the uwsc in 30 minutes or less I doubt you'll be able to match that kind of speed. Simply for the sin's ability to maintain Shadow Form as a perma-spell breaker and then some.

    Perhaps monk/assassins with DP/SF and not just con sets but other consumables would be viable. Only problem is the extra cost of the individual consumables. Also, people are so in to permas on a sin primary that they are not really interested in trying new builds untill someone can post a 10 minute uwsc using the new build.

    I clear UW with my 600 monk, Or rit, i prefer rit because it's much much faster, i only 600 Monk if i can't get a friend to go with me, as it makes it much easier to micro heroes during four horsemen, that's the biggest problem, you have to be very quick and know exactly what you're doing, i would say follow the UW guide that is stickied on this forum, lots of great advice in that thread. if i cant get a friend to go with me then i 600 monk. yes this takes a very long time compared to speed clears, but with just 2-3 people, i seem to get a lot more ecto drops, avg 7-12 a run. with my rit it takes about 50 minutes if horsemen goes correctly, with monk it takes about 1.25-1.5 hour(s) because of the fact that 600 monkin is very very slow. grab some consets and RES SCROLLS(lifesavers you have no idea) to make your life a little easier, and go in and have fun. also, what i prefer to do, is clear the entire uw, meaning, kill every single enemy, only then i take the quests, makes it much much safer, as there is a lesser chance you will screw up and pull aggro to your extra squishy bonders.

    How about something like this:

    Team A: 600/Hybrid SS-Wrath-Retrib/Any type of Nuker (will be used for bosses)
    Team B: 600/SS
    Team C: Assassin

    Start by taking quest. A takes left side, B takes right.

    A takes the chamber by the middle, B from the right. C goes to Ice Wastes and does Ice King. B goes to Vale and does Wrathful Spirits, Unwanted Guests, Escort of Souls.

    A goes through Serpent Mountains to Chaos Planes and does Four Horsemen. Team teleports to Chaos Plains.

    A goes to the top of the Serpent Mountains and kills the Stalker. B starts clearing the Spawning Pools while C does the Blood Pits. A then comes down and help with the Terrorweb Queen, or if possible, teleport.

    This strategy shouldn't take too much time, but then again, it's all theory. You could also add a third player in group B to make things much faster.

    QZ is a waste, switching third members for a QZ will slow the runs.

    A QZ ranger with Summon Spirits shouldn't have problem's keeping up with the team. (summon spirits will have with QZ and Essence <5 recharge.)

    The HM strat is three at a time. If you take more they will flee anyway. Of course you don't need to echo Spellbreaker for the first room. Against Aatxes all you need is Spirit Bond. Try to fit in a SoA if you can, but do not worry if you get interrupted.

    As for Darknesses, just cast SB/SoA before engaging and you may try to fit in one SoA after they've all had 2-3 hits on you (they usually use distracting blow as one of their first moves - you can monitor it), but past that, do not even try (avoid skull crack). Time your SB's in regard to their attack animations (immediatly after they've hit you, cast it) and that should be enough to keep you alive.

    If you plan to clear UW though, your Four Horsemen monk will need to switch Essence Bond for Life Bond (source of energy) and the BiP should switch to hybrid SS/Wrath-Retrib as I suggested above. Skills should be something like: HW, Retrib, Vital Blessing (optional), Spiteful Spirit, Insidious Parasite, etc. as mentioned in the Art of Underworld ยง17. That is, of course, if you want a single group (group A in this instance) to kill the Four Horsemen. Otherwise it will become ridiculously hard and long. I also suggest the monk's two partners to bring Life Bond and Balt's Spirit as well (even with a low Prot Prayers) - this way everyone is always full on energy.

    Edit: The Team B monk could switch out Essence Bond for Resolve since he will work a lot in the Chamber. But the necro should be reworked because it will be owned by Mindblades.

    Well after been thinking about it and looking at this build i think that is possible to do it with monks but i think that will be slower than doing with sins. I just wanna know something here. About going to the Chaos Plains, Pools, Mnts and Pits. On way there are Obsidian Behemoths. Will the team kill them or just run through?

    PS: Is it just me who finds these "creativity for creativity's sake" builds a waste of time or are we really that bored with the game?
