I am planning a Ritualist survivor and just want to know what happens when you are holding ashes??

Are you still able to use all the skills in you skill bar to summon spirits and to attack?
For example still able to use Pain or Essense Strike or Summon Spirits for example?

What happens when you hold ashes?

Thanks for any help

If you are holding an item (ashes, mission item, etc) you lose all bonuses from your weapons (Energy, HP, etc) and you can't deal physical damage by attacking with your weapon.

Everything else will work.

Or just look here: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ashes

Since you mentioned a survivor Ritualist, let me remind you of something:

Say you're holding a +60 Health staff, which isn't that bad of an assumption if you're going for a survivor. If you happen to cast [[Protective Was Kaolai] to heal yourself at say, 45 Health, you're going to have a dead non-survivor, due to what take_me has just mentioned, losing bonuses from weapons.

You might want to avoid ashes altogether until you have your desired title.

Actually, shouldn't it set you to 1 health, still alive? This sort of thing has happened to me, using [shadow form] a lot when nearby ranger spirits despawn/out of range... But yeah, 1 hit and you're gone (maybe not @45)...

^ With definitive testing today, I can say that the above is true, you will hover at 1 hp until you regen back to positive. However, this is still dangerous in itself because you're actually at negative whatever Health, and if you get healed for less than would make you positive, you will die. I can promise you that.

Lesson still holds true - be careful with ashes on a survivor.

its most likely your timing because its very hard to do it right then, ive never tried it so i dont know, but i would assume youd loose health to one then died from the degen, hey just my .02 but ye avoid the ashes anyway.

i'd use infuse or BiP to drop your health to be certain and not degen. try it on a hero if you don't want to buy skill for it.

I think there are certain situations that will not allow your health to drop below 1. I believe that if you use Endure pain at say, +200, and you drop to 100 health when it ends, you will die.

So yeah, you gotta watch those bonuses.

I'm pretty sure endure pain drops you to 1 hp.

Second'd. Though in this case you'll only need one hit from a wand to die, which could possibly occur the moment your health drops to 1.
