71 Hour Ban?

Hello, just a quick question.
I was banned for 71 hours due to an "innapropriate character name." This being my first ban, if it was due to an innapropriate character name why would I have received the ban 5-7 days AFTER the character (with the innapropriate name) had been deleted? Is this a slow process or does "Wtf Is This Shlt" count as innapropriate ?

I was JQing on Wtf Is This Shlt for about an hour, then i swiched to my necro, Vampire Of Lycan which then I entered a battle and was force-DC'd from the ban.

I would not be at all surprised if someone reported Wtf Is This Shlt. To some swearing like that is inappropriate

In online game as in real life, better safe than sorry.

If i had seen it i would have reported it to.
Imagine that, consequences for doing something you should not have been doing...
Deserved ban, learn from it.

Yeh i can see why that name got reported, but becarefull in pvp, alot of lame pvpers just report your name if you beat them in a 1v1 or something simple like that they will report you for name

You know you're not allowed to swear (in char names at least), so what made you think this would make a difference? I wouldn't have reported it because I don't care, but there are people who'll report you just for the sake of reporting you.

Rules are rules, regardless of how you feel about them. I'd like to transfer a property with a restrictive covenant that violates the rule against perpetuities, but I can't. The rule exists, so you follow it.

Sure, as long as someone reports you. Anet can't possibly implement a filter that catches every single piece of filth one could conjure up.

Friendly advice, choose more mature names for your characters.

I find the spectrum of names on GW interesting, you have the over-bearing elite in crowd idiots that stand around town and pass judgment on people that wander by, most of these people have names like “ Sarah Soultaker” “Diana Darksun” or “Damian Steelblade”. Catchy but really who are you trying to impress? AND then you have idiots like this guy that can’t get it through their head that certain names and words are not allowed in character names. Of course you’ll get banned for “WTF” in your name, someone somewhere will report you. It’s better to just avoid the hassle and not even bother with the “haha” names.

on-topic, getting around the chat filter with an inappropriate word/name is against EULA. just wait out the suspension. ^^

Each QQ like this should add 8h to the ban. That would help.

I think u got reported in JQ, if u need to learn something from this it`s that u need some nice name for ur chars.I mean what`s with the name, it`s not offensive but it is lame.Anyway people got banned for less :P !

Everyone needs to keep in mind there are real life kids playing with adults in our online community. So, you might think you are being clever when you name yourself "wtf is this shlt," but in reality, you are being a scum for doing it knowing there may be 12-yr-old kids playing in JQ.

I once saw a guy in AB luxon lobby talking in all chat about which narcotic drugs he liked. He went on and on for several minutes about the differences between cocaine and heroin and why he liked one over the other, etc. I mean... the dude wasn't sitting in his guild hall with his mates... he was in AB talking in all-chat!

Offtopic: PvE'ers need to learn 1v1 requires no skill and has no place in Guild Wars. The only skill required in 1v1 is making bad builds that have enough defense and healing as well as the bear minimum needed to kill the other player (this is another bad thing about 1v1 in GW, it promotes bad build making). Not to mention just spec'ing against the other profession. There is no balance in 1v1, if you have balanced stance and the other guy is a hammer warrior, no matter how good he is, he will never win. That is just one example.

Not saying that this is an excuse for reporting someones vaguely inappropriate name, just that PvE'ers and the newer PvP'ers need to learn winning a 1v1 does not make you better than the other player, it merely means you had a better build or even just a build that counters theirs.

Ontopic: OP you really did deserve the ban, like many others have said. Just in the future avoid making names that can't be said when typed in full or include abbreviations of swear words. You have to bear in mind there are a lot of younger players in the game and i'm sure not all their parents would like them to exposed to somewhat inappropriate language.

TBH, at the time it wasnt lame. I created it because i was 600/smiting in AB; yes retarded thing to do, but still it was fun to watch thoes luxons attack my friend...

And this is not a "QQ" thread to all you saying it, you missid what i was asking. I am not compalining about my ban. I was wondering if these bans happen within 2-3 hours of getting reported or if they take 5-7 days.
