Most fun Campaign?
Mr. Fish
Hi,
I have no idea if this is the right place for this thread...If it is not, I would greatly appreaciate a mod to move it
Anyway, I was just hoping to get a few oppinions on what people think is the most fun campaign. I am not asking which campaign is the best for making money or leveling...I am asking which campaign people have the most fun playing. Also, I would appreaciate it if you said more than just "Prophecies" or "Nightfall", but include reasons why playing that campaign gives you a fun experience.
Thanks for posting,

Prophecies, because it was my first campaign. It actually took me awhile to beat (because I was a newb). Good storyline, the Charr taking over Ascalon ect. Plus it holds my favorite area of the game, Pre-Searing. Overall it's the nagastia (idk how it's spelled, but the feeling you have when you first start a game).

Factions.
1. Pretty.
2. Insanely fast leveling.
3. Not C1, C3 or GWEN.

I will have to say, nightfall. When nightfall came out they fixed a lot of the things that i didnt like about GW in general. Long enough story line to be entertaining and lots of room to bounce around and play different parts of it.
English Warrior
The campaign that was never realised.
1. I didnt get to see how poor it was so i cant complain.
2. It might have had more of a storyline then, you find any old weapon then u go kill a god, yeh cz that works.
3. It doesnt take much to be better than the first 3.

prophecies. its a nice long story line, and i enjoyed following it. pre-heroes it was quite challenging and a lot of fun pugging, with a real sense of accomplishment on beating missions like thk with bonus in a team where 2 people left halfway through! you really got a good feel for your class without the pve skills and imba hero builds as you had to fiddle around with skills for each mission. those were the days

I liked NF the best...
Partly because of the really strong story-line, partly because of the Heroes, and partly because of the visuals, the land I was tramping about in.
Factions kinda made me a little bit claustrophobic...

Factions is my favorite. I'm sure I'm biased because it was my first campaign, but still. It's beautiful in the Shing Jea Island areas and in the Jade Sea and Echovald Forest, you level quickly, there are some great skills for every profession (lots of 'em thanks to recent buffs, but hey), and it moves quickly but has lots of extra content (competitive missions, AB, Urgoz and Deep).
I find them all fun except Prophecies, to be honest.

Prophs hands down
kostolomac
Prophecies, least cliche story.
IlikeGW
Not really fair competition since Prophecies has the most content and the others are really just expansions. So I'd say Prop wins as a full game by far.
Among the expansions, I'd say Nightfall is probably the best. Heroes, good quests, good progression of the story, and far more polished than Factions or GWEN.

Nightfall because i felt the Proph and Factions endgame were to easy. Nightfall's actually challanged me wiht h/h in normal mode. I swear it took me atlest 5 tries to get masters with h/h in the second to last mission in nitefall
Snograt
Prophecies for me too.
It is the biggest, most time-consuming and content-filled chapter. There are no roadblocks like in Factions and Nightfall - if you don't feel like playing through all the missions, you don't have to. You can actually "beat" Prophecies by completing just the last four missions. That would be nuts, though.

Kook~NBK~
Nightfall for the varied mission types - sink some ships, defend the bastion, attend a party, storm a castle, etc. etc. Good stuff!
X Cytherea X
Nightfall for the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing Junundu!!!
Eragon Zarroc
nightfall for hero's, varying mission directions, junundu, lightbringer title making u do uber dmg to margo's, mallyx and tormented weps, etc.
exploiter
Id say NF or F. Both have boring and annoying starts...probably Factions is more fun, since i dont have to do Gate of madness there
tom999
Proph defo. longest story line, most varied landscapes (8 different types in comparison with Factions' 4 and Nightfalls' 2/3), dont even have to do all the missions if you dont want to, FREE SKILLS throughout the game and not just in noob land, a real challenge as you dont have heroes there etc etc
Shemsu Anpw
I liked Nightfall best though the landscape got old quick, I enjoyed the story and the heros though. I miss Pre-Searing landscape and texmod just dosen't cover all the destruction. Factions drove me cray with its Maze of city areas, I was not happy with it (except the Faction skills). And I personally enjoyed the return of Gwen in the Eye of the North and her being a Mesmer hero.
Stop The Storm
proph or factions. proph was my first game so obviously holds a special place in my heart. factions was just a great storyline, thought shiro was friggin badass and i actually watched every fmv before and after missions.
NF is the worst, i 100% despise the storyline, even the first time i played through it, i was getting so bored of it i was skipping the videos, just wanted it over n done with. very tedius

Proph, Factions, then NF I'd say.
Nessar
Proph was the first game I got so I love it<3
Factions was insanely easy so thats a fun one.
GWEN was reaaaally pretty..bout it.
Overall I prefer anythig that isnt NF <.< Love the heros, hate the rest of the campaign

Nightfall by a long shot.
The visuals of that game are amazing - I think Factions is the prettiest of the games, but there's just something about the deserts in Nightfall that are breathtaking. I like the length of the story, as it's neither too long nor too short. The learning curve and time to level up is just about perfect - Prophecies is just far too slow in that regard, and Factions is very quick but has a huge spike in difficulty once you hit the mainland.
Nightfall contains my favorite profession in the game - Dervish. I like the Order of the Sunspears and the fact that unlike the other two games where you're just some random adventurer who becomes a hero (how cliche is that? It's the plot of just about every game ever...), your character is one that's actually being groomed for command and trained as a leader. Plus the fact that you're basically the fantasy equivalent of a Jedi is awesome, too.
There's just so much about Nightfall that puts it leaps and bounds ahead of the other two games, I think. Factions is my second favorite, and Prophecies is dead last. The fact that I actually have a level 20 Tyrian character is a miracle, and I'll just state this much - she certainly did not level up in Prophecies.

For me, it'd be factions. It picks up the pace pretty quickly and has straight forward storyline. Beautiful scenery also, of course (Shing Jea and Jade Sea, mostly). The 16-player co-op missions are pretty epic.
Prophecies baby sits you up until southern shiverpeak. That's pre-searing, post-searing, northern shiverpeak, kryta, jungle, and desert where random fools feel no need to actually organize their teams and require no real tactics. The missions are also ridiculously long and easy, which often ends up boring the pants off of alot of players.
Nightfall... The noob island = grinding death. It's also much harder to pug with other people until vabbi since people are so obsessed with leveling their heroes. I also hate every single one of the foes in Nightfall. Harpies harass you from noob island all the way up til vabbi. Dam heckets looked cool at first but get old really fast. Elementals... eww... Magonites are pretty cool, actually...
Eye of the North... So short... Can't believe I paid $50 for it when it first came out...
Earth
Factions. For pretty much the same reasons as poasiods above.
Prophecies has missions that just take too long and are way too easy. Everytime I try to play through it I get bored at like the beginning of the Northern Shiverpeaks...
And Nightfall is easy too so it bores me :X. Atleast the missions aren't that long.

Longasc
Prophecies. A lot more of areas to explore and a "world" feeling that got lost in the smaller continents of Factions and Nightfall.
But when I am already talking about campaigns, I also have something positive to say about the other campaigns.
I like Factions because of the pretty female Necros and Monks.
Nightfall had a really great Necro armor, but most other armors had issues. I also like Heroes, but they turned out to be a doubled-edged sword, turning the PvE game even more into a single-player game than before.
Eye of the North is great and sad at the same time. It shows us what GW could have become if they would not have messed up with many things and had not decided to basically freeze GW1 and focus on GW2 - probably a good game, delivered late in 2010/11, when many of us probably got addicted by other MMOs.

Need More Donuts
I'd have to say Nightfall I liked the strong storyline, the heroes (I do most stuff w/ just heroes) and enjoy the general landscape of NF.
I hated the confusing maze of cities in factions and wasn't crazy about post searing in prophecies.... What a dreary place...

Factions,
loved the jade sea and most of the looks, super nice pet skins and well nice weps also
Nightfall just feels to much like a grind for me, and i don't see most of those areas as apealing (Blech desert :P)

DreamWind
Prophecies and this isn't even close. It has the best story and the best continent. In fact I'm going a step farther and saying anybody that doesn't say Prophecies is either nuts or didn't start with Prophecies. People that started with another campaign were likely spoiled with stuff that made Prophecies easier, thus the reason they don't like it as much.

Prophesies, hands down!. This is especialy true for a new player. Game of the year, rated at 91% by PC Gamer...great story and a relaxed fun learning curve.
I also liked nightfall alot. Decent story tho it does get a bit dry after going through a few times then Factions for a fast level but a bit weak on story.

Prophecies - best memories from the old times
Factions - mix of love and hate.
Nightfall - mix of love and hate.

Prophecies. If nothing else, the nostalgia factor was big.
Plus Prophecies was probably the only one without a stereotypical big bad guy storyline. I know a lot of people don't like how Prophecies storyline goes all over the place, but I like it. It is the only GW game that legitimately produced "wow didn't see that coming" moments in the storyline.

Nightfall 11

subarucar
Prophecies, for the varied scenery and longer campaign. Also there were less of these gimmick builds like imbagons or sabway that made PvE supereasy.
RedNova88
Tie between Nightfall and Prophecies for me. Prophecies primary antagonist I saw coming from the instant I met him, which kind of killed the end for me. Nightfall, I loved, because I got to see some of the most badass looking enemies and primary antagonist. That, and I'm a sucker for the demonic looking scenery in some of the missions.
Marty Silverblade
Between the 3, I'd probably say my favourite isn't Factions. Proph was nice when I started playing because of all the areas that don't actually have any quests but were fun to just explore and try to find stuff. Good storyline too. Now it's too easy for me to really get motivated though. Nightfall looks a bit boring though; once you've gone through it once you really don't want to look at it again.
Aztec Mijo
prophecies, back in the day u had to take on pve with ur purple long sword and r11 tactics non inscrib, thats what we used to call hm >_>
other than that, the scenery was always changing
epic storyline
so many enemies, charr, mursaat, stone summit, undead. factions what? brotherhood and afflicted. nf the margonites and kournans.

Maybe you can tell me which one is my favorite campaign.
6 characters have completed Prophesies.
1 Prophesies character has completed Factions.
2 Prophesies characters about 1/2 way through NF.
1 Prophesies character about 1/3 done with GWEN.
As to why;
Prophesies has the best looking characters. Very few quests run you back and forth over the same ground. You can jump around any area, to cap elites for instance, then continue with the storyline. The constantly changing environment, coastline, jungle, desert, mountains, and the Ring of Fire Isles, are all positives.
I hated the back & forth, back & forth for quests in Factions, to the point that all I use Factions for now, is quick max armor. I only completed it with one character, while helping a guild mate complete it.
Nightfall, IMO, was the last nail in the PuG coffin. GWEN didn't help there either. Anytime that a quest or mission makes you take a certain NPC to replace a RL person, IMO, just plain sucks. "If I have to take one, why not take all? That way I can level them up, too."
That is my opinion.
