This may be a common question but I searched and couldn't find any threads. For things like taking leechers with you for raptor farming (which is the most common case involving this question), does it REALLY make your drops better if they are off radar? I've gotten mixed opinions from my guild and want a strait answer. Also, if the answer is yes, is it only real players that affect it, or do heroes/henchmen work too?

only way to find out is test it. some believe it helps, some belive it doesn't matter, some may believe it hurts. only way to get a general idea is to take hundreds of runs with someone and then hundreds of runs without someone and compare data. There isn't an official statement of the mechanics of drops so it is difficult to provide u with an accurate answer to ur question.

Although I do not know how true this is, I think the idea is that the more players in your party, the more items would drop. But then if they are not in radar range (name grayed out), they would not get assigned the items that dropped. I would think heroes and henchman would work too since they are also in your party, but that is as long as they are also out of radar range so no drops would get assigned to them.

I'm going with the belief that this is a myth until I see any non-anecdotal evidence. The idea seems silly.

Basically in a nut shell its a 2 way split
Wiki/anet states all drops are lootscaled ( except some items but were talking in general ) and dependant on party size - rumered to be placed to cease the influx of bots ages back ( and probably screw us 55 monks and other solo farmers lol ).
So it would seem that going in a zone solo yields x amount of drops - going in say 8 man team would yield more drops.
Also remembering that drops are random for all players - random is the key word.
If someone is out of drop range then in theory the players within range get that drop chance.
This is split opinions - no matter what anyone says or shows via screenies it cannot be proved or disproved - anet wont be kind or nice enough to tell us the truth for their own reasons but thats not the issue here.
If its correct and party size does relate to drops then 1 sides correct ( and other side will still deny its existence lol ) and vice versa.
From my own personal experience and probably from ac1inferno`s own experience times we do experience more drops and other times nothing really improved.
I could be just having a few lucky runs where lady luck smiles upon me - like when i got 6 black dyes in 2 days in prophs but in 2 yrs of playing it took 18 months to see that and last 6 months have never repeated that ( also took 1yr before i had a black dye drop lol ).
MisterB on the other hand could either be right or having the worst luck going in gw - who can say .. i kno i cant.
The biggest misconception is when ppl say "You get better drops" - that implies higher value drops like golds etc.Sorry - they should really say "you may get more item drops" as you may get 4 or 5 more white junk.
Now proving is a diff matter - its like quantum physics.
Drops are via random chance - so how you prove random drops is beyond me , i could do 100 runs and detail every single drop i had solo - so could MisterB but i wouldnt expect them to match - if they did then drops wouldnt be random.
So how can we prove 100 solo vs 100 full team.Im also sure each run would have different drops within it as well.
Sadly this topic has been brought up many times over the yrs and still its stuck at 50/50 and we`ll have the usual posts and replies ( and the rest that goes with it sadly ).
Its just a game and we have to accept the fact that we shall never know the truth - not even mulder and skully can solve this one sadly.

Answer is pretty obvious to me and should be to anyone else who has tried it... its totally false... i have taken 7 leechers and gotten -3 drops before and taken 0 and had +10 drops. Enemies will only drop loot for you when they are killed inside your radar range. I have even tested this in CoF and drops do not increase for me when my team goes off radar... drops just stop altogether for them.
Good luck is just that...Luck! It has nothing to do with your party members.
