hey guys, as some of you know recently i put together a new system, well sometimes the usb mouse and the keyboard just turns off, all the lights turn off and i can't use them even if i re plug them or anything like that.

system specs

CPU-E8400 wolfdale at stock speed of 3.0 ghz
motherboard- Gigabyte P45
GFX card- a XFX GeForce GTX 260 everything at stock speeds.
PSU- CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W
Mouse- http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...e_tab=overview

keyboard- a standard dell keyboard, SK-8115 is the model number
OS- windows vista home premium 64x OEM version

this happens randomly and it has forced me to turn off the computer by the power supply button more than once and I'm afraid it might corrupt the HDD. any help is appreciated, if you need more info just ask

why don't you just hit the power button on the pc? im pretty sure it defaults to shut down the pc in vista.

anyways, to me it sounds like it could be the motherboard.
did you build it yourself? (1st time building?)

Welcome to Vista, sorry. I can't belive that the same USB issues that existed in Win95C are back in Vista. The only thing that I can think of that MIGHT help is; Did you turn off power management for the USB ports? It sounds like Windows is turning them off.
