remove cinematics from pvp
moriz
ever since anet did that cinematic change years ago, it has caused problems in pvp. the cinematic change made all allies invincible. however, this change also applies to pvp.
for example, i'm playing AB and a teammate does not press the skip button. as long as that teammate is in the cinematic, my ENTIRE team is effectively frozen. you'd think you can move, but according to the server, you do not move. skills would not activate, you cannot interact with anything, and you also cannot die. instead of being down one person, you're now down four.
this also applies to the original gvg halls btw, which can lead to autolosses.
so, anet should remove all cinematics from pvp areas.

The cinematics in PvP are pointless anyway.

Uhhh, last time I checked, which was not before "years ago", the PvP cinematics were individual based. Meaning, if you press skip, you skip. If your teammate doesn't, he watches it. But you can still skip.
The only cases where this was not the case of JQ, but that cinematic was removed *and is intended to be added to be watchable via a NPC - hopefully the latter PvE cinematics*

unfortunately it doesn't work this way.
when the cinematics were updated years ago, it was to prevent minions and spirits from dying in during them. however, that change applies to players also.
the cinematics are counted on a per team basis. if you skip but your teammate doesn't, he is effectively lagging the entire team. don't believe me? try it in AB sometimes. you can easily tell if someone's not pressing skip: your skills won't work, you cannot attack, you cannot open gates, you cannot cap shrines even when you are apparently standing on it. and yes, you cannot die; your health will never drop below 1. that all disappears once the cinematic ends for that teammate, or he presses skip.
rather than going through the trouble of fixing it, it's much easier to just remove the cinematics.

Keep them. We still get new people who never played this before.

Not really a good idea. The Guild Wars community is still growing, thus, people need to know how for example AB works. I say, keep them. And as other people say, you can just skip them. They're individually based.

If what you're saying is true than something must be done. I don't think that removing it altogether is an option, you have to take the new players into consideration. Still There're more pressing issues, like leechers.
/signed for fixing it anyway.

How about once we've skipped it one time, it doesn't keep popping up.
I never watched them anyways.

I never like 'Remove'. Change it to 'move' and I will agree.
PvP cinematics should be shown like the Competitive missions presentation cinematics: Talk to NPC -> Ask for explanation -> Trigger cinematic.

skip button for the win ;-). make em all on an individual basis

I thought it was lag causing this, learned something new. But ya take the automatic cinematics out since it has such an effect. Have them avialable by npc.
