I wish that anet would make the announcements section of the guild status larger so you can put in more detailed messages without having to make what you want to say more compact.

It would be awesome if you could write like entire match reports in the status for everyone in your guild to read.

although if you wrote a large block of text it would take up too much room when you logged on/changed characters and completely fill your chat box..... which would be a bit annoying imo.

Want to write a match report - use a guild forum.

In my guild the announcement is just for Vent info+PW and little comments, like above... if you want write a huge match report, use a forum.

there's plenty of room to post a link to a forum post. what's the problem?

i wouldnt mind more room, mainly room webbielinks.

imagine an active pve guild with multiple events through out the week, when they approach you want to put a reminder into status with a link to the right topic on your guildforum. simply not enough room.

however the current size is 256, for a reason =(

So how about a frickin' link to the forums where you can find ALL the events under, for example, the EVENTS section?

It's easy.

Because the majority of the players play the game and don't want to check a website. Same why the majority of GW players play the game and don't check a forum like this. Same reason why ppl dont know wiki.gw exist.

Promoting a guild activity is so bad after all...

Then again anet was never strong with their promotion, starts affecting their userbase?

The majority of the players don't even bother reading Guild Announcements... Besides that, it's their loss for not using Guild Wiki or GW Guru.

Ditto.

Besides, if guild members are too lazy to copy/paste a forum link, then they are probably too lazy to read a longer announcement in the game.

More text takes more server storage.

For the time being, linking to an events page on your forum is definitely more convenient than cramping up announcements to fit within the 256 character limit.

But if you absolutely must post it in-game, then here's a thought: Instead of increasing the cap on announcements, I would instead like to see ANet implement a new NPC in the guild hall, or perhaps something like a message board (if you've played grenado espada, they have these), where guild leaders and officers can post longer announcements (with no cap) for the sake of in-game convenience. I guess you could compare it to the [Records] NPC in the challenge mission outposts in that the NPC brings up a window with the announcements.

I doubt ANet will do such a thing, though. Just a thought.
