which is the best inscription for daggers seeing as an extra 15% dmg only takes base dmg up to 8-19.

Well, 15% or 20% damage modifiers are the ONLY type of inscriptions for weapons besides +energy ones.
Some people claim that using +energy daggers are better so you can get your chain off. They are definitely useful after getting death penalty.

But really, if you have good energy management, use zealous, and don't die a lot, you might as well use some sort of 15%. Every little bit helps.

Do +% damage modifiers (either inscription or suffix) apply to base damage alone, or the total damage including +damage from attack skills?

use +5 energy (I Have the Power)

Dagger damage is small and the damage buffs do not make much difference. But an extra 5 energy can mean getting another skill off.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

Use "Strength and Honor" in PvP because you're a damage dealer and you need all of the damage you can get. If you need the +5 energy for your chain then:

- there's something wrong with your skills,
- you're DP'd out,
- you need more Critical Strikes
- or you need Zealous Daggers.

In most situations high Critical Strikes and Vampiric daggers tend to work best in terms of energy management and DPS. There are loads of daggers attack skills that provide (lots of) energy.

Only base weapon damage, which is why (for daggers) 15^50 vs. +5e is actually a relatively common debate on these forums. +5e can mean getting another skill off with big +damage, while 15^50 is increasing your damage over every strike.

OP - test around, see what you're most comfortable with. Personally I'm with Hawk; use 15^50 unless you've got DP, then +5e can mean the difference in your chain.

I think the last argument over this took several pages of posts. I suppose there is a "best" inscription for daggers (probably different for each individual). But, frankly, none of the inscription matter a diddly when it it comes to daggers. zealous + the fast attack rate of sins makes the + energy ones fairly inconsequential and the low damage of daggers makes the + dmg ones pretty irrelevant.

15>50 is the best

crit hits are good...and i hear sins get them lots

+5 energy is viable and may be required in some situations, but not the best overall

there's no reason you can't have both...
use the 15>50 unless you need an extra 5 energy to use a skill, in which case you can swap to +5e, use the skill, and swap back to 15>50.

Aye. Giving you the ability to swap for DP as well.

True. Also, if you customize, you get +35% or somewhere thereabouts. It might be closer to 33%, depending on how the bonuses stack. 33% can add up quckly.

Even if it doesn't apply to the +dmg from your skills (which I don't think it does), you still have IAS and chance of dual strike as a sin. so if you can hit for an extra 2-5 pts each strike, that adds up pretty quickly. Over the course of a chain, that can be up to 20-30 pts, which is an extra hit or two.
