This lag...

Anyone else noticing this annoying lag? Little lag spikes here and there.

I thought it was just my connection. Irritating, isn't it? Especially right in the middle of a BIG fight...

its not guildwars....they may, keyword may, be applying new changes to the servers in the background?

either that or they are working on something but I have never really ever found lag spikes, and when you say something about it in game as I have seen, people say its your computer graphic drivers

Lag and choppiness are 2 totally different things.
Video Cards is your Fps (frames per second) as which each frames loads per second, for example if you're choppy you're screen will be slow and slazzy.
For lag, ping is how much time a file takes to go to the server and back to you. For example lag will have your character jumping around or just have no response at all, that's high ping.

It's getting rather irritating, getting 1k spikes on a university connection ~_~

Yes, it's rather unlikely that anyone else at the entire University is also using the internet.

If you lag constantly, it's probably your network, if you lag once or twice in a couple of weeks, it's probably guild wars.

As I said in the other thread, I seldom lag because of pretty good connection, yesterday though I had some spikes (as about everyone I talked to at that moment) so they were probably testing server capacity or uploading content so they don't have to upload it all right before the release of the new update.

University internet is usually t1 or t3 speeds, some lucky universities have fiber optic. Anything the university does that requires that much bandwidth for an official matter usually has their own connection separate from the students and general staff. The remaining users are NOT going to be using the entire bandwidth of the connection even if they're all streaming porn at the same time.

At worst, he should be getting the equivalent of a cable connection without anyone else on the line. The problem is on Anet's end or somewhere in between.

Or it could be his firewall, or if he has anything else running in the background on his computer, and so on...

Lag's been no worse than usual for me. There's the usual random spike every so often but that generally just happens after I've brought up Firefox.

yea i have been having huge lag spikes like cant move or do anything. and i am usely on vent when they happen and everyone one on vent says they have they same problem. (most of the time we are not in a party together, though some times we are.) the other grate thing is when your gvging or haing and you start to air axe across the map.

Or it could be that Anet has been taking servers off-line for the past few years and the remaining workload distribution has caused a general increase of ping across the board.

Yah it's bad. 5 minutes in and I already got disconnected. This is ridiculous. My internet is working fine, all the websites are loading ok...its just GW

Ps. Sooo, I've been stuck at the same loading screen for 10 minutes and counting...am I the only one getting this horrible lag?

Nope, you're not alone. The loading screens freeze, characters freeze. Restarting the game does nothing, you're still sticky in the same spots. I've never had it be this bad before.

I know, right? Which is why I don't get lag on any of my other games, and speedtest reports a solid 16 mbps dl, 7 mbps upload, and 40 ms ping. It's alright to question my statement, but please don't be a jerk about it.

It is probably GW, as it always has been for me (i get random disconnects all year through, though having a ping of 20 ms in cod4 and zero lag there).
