Armor penetration confusion...
Tadpole Lord
Alright so I have a few questions regarding armor penetration, so here goes.
I here there is a maximum 'bonus' armor penetration that can be applied (20%), however I don't really know what counts as bonus and what does not. Suppose I use a hornbow (10%) along with a sundering bowstring (20%) and the rit skill sundering weapon (10%)... So, what stacks what doesn't? Will I have 'wasted' armor penetration?
I actually have another relevant question... is there a cap to how high in any attribute you can get? If my marks is 16, I use experts dexterity, and hit the +1 (20%) will it all stack and affect skills, damage, and crits properly?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I think the max you can have in an attribute is 20 (with god blessings eggs, candy and stuff)I have not been able to get it more then that. I don't know if a +1(20%) will push it over.

Well it should...I will try it tonight on the dummies where you get the z-chest

the 10% AP from hornbow is applied on every hit. the 20%/20% AP from the mod is applied 20% of the time. so on a hornbow, your AP varies between 10% to 30%. at least, i believe that's how it works.

Would the 10% from [Sundering Weapon] stack with the 30% above? For a total of 40%? It's low chance to get the 20%/20% percent bonus during the 3 hits from [sundering weapon] but it should be possible, and according to the wiki, they should stack, as only one is non-Bonus AP.

Sundering Weapon (the skill) is base AP, so it won't stack with the AP from a hornbow.

"Bonus AP does stack with base AP and other sources of bonus AP."
Sindering Weapon (Skill) is Base AP, Sunder mod and Hornbow are both Bonus AP, which means 20% of the time you can achieve 40% armor penetration.
That being said, the best armor penetration would probably be achieved by a Warrior with 16 Str (16%) using a Hornbow (10%) of Sundering (20%) enchanted with Judges insight (20%), and the Warrior's Might blessing (10%). This gives a total of 76%, which is bragable.
There might even be more bonus skills of which I am not aware.

My bad, I keep thinking hornbows are base AP, even though people keep correcting me :/
Highest AP would be Penetrating/Sundering Attack + hornbow + sundering mod + Judge's Insight + the shrine blessing. That'd be 80% if sundering triggered.

Penetrating/Sundering Attack are only worth 10%. Strength is the best base you can get while using a bow.
You can use penetrating Chop (20%), but you lose the 10% for hornbow. You could use holiday items and/or consumables to boost your strength and get an extra point or two.
