Record/playback. How it would work: 1. You'd need to set it before entering a mission/explorable area/PvP match etc. 2. After you finish it will be temporarily available on obs window just for yourself for a period of time. 3. You'll be able to save it to a file to bring up at a later time.

About saving observation matches. Observe a match, save match to file, open up the observation window again, there will be a button: "Load match." Specify the file and away you go.

Get this maybe instead of creating videos on youtube, all we'd have to do is send obs matches that are on our PC to friends/whoever. Maybe you want to show your farming run/best PvP match without using some recording software and without the people watching be limited to a fixed camera angle.

Also give observation matches a free roam camera. Sometimes I don't want to follow players or sit on a stationary camera.

EDIT: The only con about this, is that monthly updates would most likely cause matches to go out of sync if a certain player/monster used a skill that got updated. I know it's happened a few times in the past.

it might be beyond what's possible now, but it would be a very welcome feature.

the skill update problem can be simply fixed by loading each obs session with its own skill list, which is never updated beyond the date which the vid is taken.

/signed some of the JQ and AB battles i've been in would be fun to watch

although server lag i think would be an issue.

Crazy is right. The programing requirements would may exceed the available programing resourses and the resourses of many of the computers used by players. Signed or not signed? How about don't care either way.

computer specs is not an issue. the current obs mode is merely a recording of all the key presses from all the players, and the game engine just rerenders each battle. this can use the same system, but has to come in a downloadable format.

If it's possible to implement, then 100% signed, I'd love this feature so much, and it's one of the things I've loved from almost every other game I played (Age of Empires ftw). Watching saved games that you've played and lost (or even won) allows you to find out what went wrong, what you could improve on, and makes you a better player for sure.

It's also fun to nostalgia; imagine watching the old shadow prison sin, Cultist's Fervor Doomspike, or EoE Bomb?

Couldn't happen, if such an idea were to happen, it wouldn't mean old Obs matches would suddenly become available. I think there is a limit per collapsible tab to how many obs matches can populate the list until they're replaced by another match. This feature would only work for present and future matches, that is if you ever save them.

If it isn't possible for the current GW engine, then I'll probably make this a suggestion for GW2.

Yeah I realized that, but far from now, imagine seeing something like backbreaker sin, shadow form kegging, Cryway, etc... and if that get's nerfed then later we will be saying "Wow, look how effective and fun that was!". I was just using previous scenarios as examples

I would love to replay parts to see who screwed up the mission leaving us all dead expect the single person who doesn't have a rez spell.

i would think that unlike obs mode, personal replays would be handled client-side, so it wouldn't be an issue.

For that to work the client would have to be much, much larger. The system requirements would also be a good deal higher than what they are now.

Adding a feature like this is near impossible. Servers just can't handle it.

Consider how many people may be using this. Now consider how much server strain this would entail. Now combine those 2 thoughts. Hundreds of people recording stuff would be worse strain on the sever than larger storage, which we have had to wait for an expansion on, and still don't know what/how that will work.

I agree it would be cool, but I don't believe the GW1 team has the man power, resources, or abililty to do it.

Twould be awesome to see those great moments from vanquishes again or that perfectly performed pwning in AB. However, some files would be super-long, baring in mind that some elite area trips can be several hours long.

Only for the free roam camera, there is a partial version of this but it's more of a stationary free roam O.o.
