I keep reading forum posted saying "Tahlkkora does great with this build...."

Aren't all heroes of a givent profession basically the same? so aren't Ogden, Dunkoro and Talhkora interchangeable? or Jora and Koss?
Maybe they start with slightly different equipment, but do they have inherent attributes or AI that makes one better suited to something than the other?

Showtime is wrong.

The equipment and skills they come with differ, but thats all. It's like starting a Ranger in Prophecies and one in Nightfall; they start off with different things but it's just a matter of reequipping. So yes, heroes of the same profession are the same.

Maybe you're thinking of henchmen? Heroes of the same primary profession should be completely interchangeable (once you changed their initial skills and weapons). Some GW players insist that Olias does such-and-such while Livia does something else, but I've never noticed anything of the kind and strongly doubt that it's true.

I'm definitely thinking of Heroes.
and I know that starting skills are very different, but that's irrelevant very fast.
I guess people get some form of attachment to their hero, so when they say "Talhkora does this well" they really mean "a hero healer does this well" .

I do tend to use the same hero in the same role on all my characters, just for consistency, so *my* Olias is always a MM and *my* Talkhora is always a Protector Monk. Also, while its' easy to switch builds on a given hero by loading a it from disk, it's not as easy to change armor/runes, etc... and my MoW doesn't have any use for Minionmaster insignias.

heros when given the same bar will play it exactly the same. there is no difference in AI, no matter if people say one is more stupid than the other, lol. most of the time they are just joking around or are upset that that particular hero died. ;-) only benefits that i can think of between any two heros is that the ones that are other races do not spread disease. example:vekk(asuran) with disease will not spread disease to you(human)

Just going to reinforce what others have already said. Heroes of the same profession (really just ones with the same skills/equip) will behave in the same way.

On several occasions, I have had 2, or even 3 heroes running the same build with the same equipment and they used skills at almost the same exact time in the same way.

It is really funny to watch all 3 skillbars used at the exact same time all the time...of course they differ the longer the battle is.

They do spread even if they aren't human. Pyre, Vekk, and Zhed have spread disease towards my toon a number of times. Likewise, Edge of Extinction also treats them like humans. I've attempted to EoE a bunch of Charr by getting Pyre killed with health sacrifice skills, but it ended up hurting my party instead of the Charr (kids, do not try this at home). Go figure.

All the heroes use the same AI coding, therefore play exactly the same way. The only diference is asthetics and starting skills & equipment

Only one exception I can think of: MOX, because of his extraordinary size, can bodyblock a lot more effectively than either of the other two dervishes. Not that he's programmed to do this--it's just a nice side-benefit.
