i find that it comes in cycles. sometimes i get em sometimes i dont. i suggest a good pop-up blocker.

Iv'e never had any problems with ads on guru, even the large bar ones up the top are blocked for me. Its probabaly best to get a decent pop-up blocker.

I use Firefox with No-Script and 'Add Block Plus' as add-ons ... haven't seen a single add on the Guru pages for ages ... and never get pop ups.

I've completely forgotten Guru has ads. As others have suggested, a good pop-up blocker will solve your problem.
