Why aren't weapons from Proph and Factions inscribable?
Klas
Has this been answered before? I can't find...

Its because Prophecies and Factions gmaes were out before Anet thought about even needing/wanting inscriptions, Inscriptions were only introduced with Nightfall and any changes after the addition of NF including the first 2 games.
If you clear FOW or the UW starting in Prophs or Factions you will still get inscribable weapons from the endchests.

You can also find many skins that are proph and factions only skins that are inscribeable versions in the zchest and victory chest in halls.

It's actually a good thing, that they didn't ruin all weapons with inscriptions.
I have a small "article" on my wiki page about weapons that only exist without inscription (so far 29 weapons and probably quite some more missing):

Everyone is welcome to post on my talk-page and add more skins that don't exist inscribable.

Which werent there in the first place, anet thought it so original to have a dumb chest at the end of everything they couldnt help themselves...

Its good thing they doesnt excist inscriable. in my opinion, inscription is worst thing in gw, if all items would become inscriable, id probably ragequit.

Well the thing is, i like challenges, with inscriable items, almost any item can be perfect, back in the day it was all about luck having perfect item, i liked it, ppl were fine with 2-3pt off shields etc, as they just couldnt find/afford perfect.

I started playing a few weeks ago after a long pause (a few months before gwen came out). Its quite weird seeing the trade market now.. If its not "perfect" (oh how I love that item description..) you can forget trying to sell it.
Even weirder is all the new content, which I gotta say I dont enjoy - the list is long.. Who came up with that resurrection scroll jeez??
The way its going it'll soon be like diablo2 - healing with potions from inventory and stuff like that.
Oh well, I still have Cantha to farm around in . Always liked finding new toys for my chars

I agree but a little off topic is that if I remember correctly Diablo 2 is still one of the most played rpg's out there. With a fan base still in the millions even over 10 years after its release in 1998. So maybe that isnt such a bad thing :-p

Yeah, right, that's because drops being just a matter of luck and skyrocket prices for barely decent items were good things...

Inscriptions weren't thought up of till Nightfall came out. That's why Nightfall and the Eye of the North after have inscriptions. Prophecies and Factions were left uninscribable because if they turned everything into inscriptions, it would piss a lot of people off.
I think it would be better if they just go all one way or the other instead of splitting it half half, but Anet would probably never be able to reach a general consensus of which it should be so things will stay the same for a long time.

Rare items didnt automatically mean some staff/axe/spear/whatever dropping at the end of a 1 hour long dungeon from a weird chest (that takes up like half the darn screen) with a 0.01% probability .
But yeah I'm getting severely off-topic, and towards the same old arguement new vs old.

GW wasnt like that . If you took a bit of time and thought about it, you could find every rare skin fairly fast. 1-2 points off perfect werent important. Req 11-12 was still acceptable, even 13 was ok. Look at it now .
soz for o/t, I'll restrain myself from whining any more . I'm happy people enjoy it, some of us got used to the older versions and still find them better

i would rage quit if they changed it back i think inscriable weapons are the best thing to happen to this game. and they should change it to where you can get all your weapons to be inscribable and have the "unique" combinations that you cant get on non inscriblable weapons right now, available and able to get them in inscription form. and if you or someone else tried to sell me something uninscrible for more then something that is normally inscribleable i will report you for scaming. and i dont think the non inscribeable "perfect" weapons are worth more.

The question was "why aren't these weapons inscribable," not "what do you think about inscribable weapons." Q&A isn't a discussion forum, so closed.
