So I was hacked...

About 3 days ago I decided to get back on Guild Wars after my little break I had. At first, I didn't seem to realized that all my stuff was gone. I then logged on again a few hours later, realizing that all my stuff was gone, I freaked. I had lost all of my gold, my mini pets, and the person who decided to do this to me even deleted one of my characters (luckily it was a pretty shitty char). I felt like writing this because I was wondering if you guys had any ideas why someone would want to hack me, for no reason too. Usually I act friendly and helpful to people on Guild Wars.

Anyone have ideas?

1) 99% chance you weren't hacked. Either security lacks on your end (weak password, or you gave your info to someone), or you picked up some sort of keylogger.

2) There's probably a different reason for every "victim." The reason is quite irrelevant - all you need to know is that someone didn't care enough about you and decided to screw you over.

3) As unfortunate as this is for you, I'm not sure why you had to make a thread to ask, "why me?" Surely you could've figured this out on your own?

4) There's nothing we can do here for ya. Since you still seem to have access to your account, I suggest you change your password & keep it secure. There isn't anything you can do to get your stuff back. If in the future you lose access to your account, contact arenanet's support team.

5) I like lists. ^_^

Well, I wasn't looking for help. I've accepted that I got RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed over. Yeah, your right it is probably because of my weak password, however I have always kept my information safe and have never downloaded something or done something that could have contained a keylogger. I just want to see reply's on how people think this happened to me.

too much pr0n imo; that's the #1 source right there.

on-topic: don't use same emails/passwords for websites and what not. that is a huge reason how people get their account jacked.

Question: Do you still have access to your email address the account is under. Sometimes people hack your email account and reset the password back to your email.

Just a thought.

It kinda sucks and Anet wont do much about it, so don't worry about why, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, change your PW and carry on...

If you didn't read from above before, I'm not looking for help. Just looking at other peoples opinions on why they think I was hacked. I've given up on my chars that lost things when I was hacked so I've started a new character on Proph again, it's a lot of fun
