Mandragor Roots
Veripare
So, I've been looking up ways to get the sweet tooth title and Mandragor Roots have caught my eye as they can be traded into a collector for delicious cake. There are only three kinds of Mandragor that drop this kind of root for the cake: Stoneflesh Mandragor, Mandragor Slither, and Mandragor Imp. Any tips on what is the best place to farm them for their roots?

was a thread not too long ago on what your looking for.

Mandragors have nasty combination of kds / interrupts / enchant removal / life stealing and skills that go even throught perma. That makes farming quite inefficient and overall better to farm directly for money and buy sweets.

it is possilbe to farm for them. how good the drop rate is idk becuase i don't farm them :P. but the best place i can think of is EoTN area's in the norn territory and Plains of Jarin in HM.
superraptors
kegbombing nextdoor neighbour of jaga moraine [forgot name '-.-] but i dont think they drop the roots your looking for

you can keg or 600 them pretty easily in nightfall and eotn, obviously in nightfall no keggin,
and i'm pretty sure you can use an ele to terra tank them, i've never tried but i'm almost certain it's possible, but i remember destroying a lot of them outside of yohlon haven in arkjok ward.
and there is a CRAP load in bjora marches and they can be easily destroyed by keggin, or even with a variant of a perma form, if you don't have a sin, 600 will do the job just as well, just make sure you have i am unstoppable because the jotuns have heavy kd's and they're mixed into a lot of the mandragors, be cautious though as there are several mandragor pop-ups. good luck!
you could always wait til gw's birthday celebration in 2 weeks, as there will be lots of mandragor cake available from collectors if my memory serves me correctly.
and i just checked, my memory was wrong, but there will be blue dranks, bean cakes, creme brulee's and cupcakes galore, that should def rot some of those sweet teeth

This would probably take forever. It would be quicker to farm for items to sell, then use the money to by sweets from players. Typically 100-125g per point.
7 unid golds usually = 5k. That would get you about 50 sweet title points. Much easier and faster than farming roots.

I decided to resurrect this thread as the contents are suddenly relevant with the arrival of Nicholas the Traveler in Arkjok Ward. Incidentally, the Mandragors in Eye of the North do not drop the correct sort of Roots, as far as I can tell. Anyway, here's a solo farm build I've been using.
[build prof=E/Me energy=12+2+1 fire=12 inspiration=3 desc="+20% Enchantment duration"][Aura of Restoration][Burning Speed][Flame Djinn's Haste][Flame Burst][Great Dwarf Armor][Glyph of Swiftness][Ether Renewal][Mantra of Resolve][/build]
Basically, the idea is to put up Ether Renewal and as many other enchantments as possible and out-heal the armor-ignoring damage and life stealing through constant casting. You can swap in Fire Attunement or some other enchantment if you don't have Great Dwarf Armor. It's a good idea to bring Geomancer armor and maybe even a shield with an inscription of +10 vs. Earth damage if you've got one lying around.
Mantra of Resolve protects you from the Slithers' Distracting Blow, but be careful as they also have Wild Blow. Also, make sure you cover Ether Renewal with at least two enchantments before you aggro any group with Imps in them to guard against Chilblains.
Try not to kill more than one thing at a time to insure you don't lose drops unnecessarily. You don't have to wait long between kills however, 10-20 seconds at most. On average, you can get the 15 Mandragor Roots needed in an hour of farming, which, to be perfectly honest, is about what you can expect to get using heroes and henchmen.
To find the Mandragors, head out from Sunspear Sanctuary, through the Command Post, and into Arkjok Ward. Then, head west and south, avoiding groups along the way, until you're beyond the pond. You'll see a small hill around which Mandragor groups spawn. All the visible groups consist of three Mandragors and are easily dispatched, but several buried groups lurk unseen and they are larger as well. You can take these out, but they are rather more difficult to kill. Or, you can ignore them and re-warp. I don't generally venture to the southern Mandragor spawns, as they are less predictable and more dangerous.

Why solo when the Roots get Loot-Scaled i.e. you get as many solo as in 8 man party?
kielus
600/smite outside johlon haven works like wonder... average 2 roots / run and max of 10 minutes. didn't count kills tho, and i'm pretty sure you can speed up the process.
woofyhugger
Yeah I have been running through farming mandragor roots with myself (Rit/N) and 7 H/H and it's all very fast and I have had good luck with getting roots.. err.. mandragor roots. You don't need to solo and you don't need any special build. It's not rocket science.

The bold part is incorrect. That is not how LS works.

I have found "in practice" that the amount of roots today from doing solo and 8 man party runs isnt really any different. It was far easier and quicker doing 8 man for me.. and I got better results.
manager
I did the runs with 3 heroes and was getting 3-4 roots per run(5 runs including the one to grab the gifts). Also got 2 golds and a green.

i think you guys are forgetting you need 45 roots, cuz you need 15 of the root cakes at 3 roots per cake. This one is a grind fo sho
manager
Err...no. 1 cake = 1 gift.

Because the 2 stacks are from different inventories. 2 people team.
It took me a long time to finally gather my 45 roots needed for 3 accounts worth of gifts, and I got nothing, just some potions, stones and honey.

Didn't take me too long to get the 60 roots I needed solo as a touch ranger with added PvE skills.

Might do it some more for personal gain for cakes after or as stuff to do.
Seriously...why perma to solo? I had a friend who soloed it too as his warrior using just Defy Pain and Lions Comfort with a bunch of attack skills. People find them that hard?
