Ok, well I searched but couldn't find the answer, so I figured I'd ask the veterans.

Does Assassin have a stealth power that is akin to invisibility and hide in other MMO's...making you invisible to other players?

Thanks in advance...

As Arkantos has already stated, Assassins do not have a "Stealth" or "Hide" mode. What they do have is the Shadow Step, which is a short range teleport. Different skills Shadow Step you to enemies, allies, or random locations.

Check out the Stickied Thread at the top of the Assassin Forum, it will give you all the basic details you will need to understand the Assassin Profession!

if memory serves me correctly, at one point in GW's development, mesmers had a spell called "disappear", which renders them invisible. that was taken out for obvious reasons.

[Shadow Form] was their implementation of that idea. [Feigned Neutrality] to a lesser extent.

There's two ways to be "invisible" to monsters in PvE

If you're in a group, get insignia and mods which increase your health, also higher armor. For your assassin this means Survivor Insignia, Fortitude mods and also Critical Agility. The monsters tend to go for targets that have less health/armor.

There's also shadow form. You'll get aggro'd but shadow form makes all sort of hostile skills not work so, yeah.

Guild Wars dev team tries to make PvP as balanced as they can, so there's obviously no forms or ways to be invisible in it.

Like RadaArashi said, keep that health high. Stick with the minor runes. All should be well.

An Assassin chooses his moment to "strike from the shadows" and gets in and out. So, don't be in the lead charging the mob. Let your party aggro first, then pick your target and go in, run your dagger combo, and then get out. Use a shadow arts skill to return to the shadows, or just double click on your archer or monk in the party window to run back.

When leveling up, a Longbow will help a lot. And even after that! You can find a Longbow as a drop in a starting area that requires no points in Marksmanship and has a damage rating of 5-9, or 6-11 ... something like that. Use this bow to start combat. Fire one shot to pull and press the "s" key to back up. Your hench or hero warrior will go in and take the brunt of the enemy fire. That is the warrior's job, not yours. Then pick your target and go blast it. You want the monsters to think you are just a harmless archer out at long range not hurting them much. Longbow is the super weapon of the Assassin!
