My farming build
Junato
Aim: to farm a group of vaetirr
[build=Owpj8pja6S1gLiygQXVQXguM4OA]
Runes, attributes and insignias
+2 critical strikes
+6 energy
+1 shadow arts
+15 health
+10 phys (body)
+10 slash (body)
+10 Phys (arms)
+10 blunt (arms)
Weapon:
Draconic Scythe
My methodology:
I press the numbers in respect to skills 2, 5, 6, 4 then switch it up with some of my other skills
The problem
I can't keep up, the skills that I have don't really represent what I am trying to do. Which is killing a mob
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all

I'm so confused. Is this a farming build or a poor attempt at a crit scythe?

Hey Junato,
I assume you are farming Spectral Vaettir, but without Shadow Form, Vaettir cause a lot of degen. They also have [[images of remorse] and [[clumsiness]. So going melee against them is going to be painful.
You're better of making a perma sin, w burning speed or just keggin them.

1) We are not sure what you are using this for. You state farming and Vaettir, but solo? Most Vaettir farming is done in Jaga Moraine, and those are Mesmers with a lot of degen and [Clumsiness] which will eat melee attack skills alive.
2) You have very little self preservation. Victorious won't supply much healing when it is interrupted by Clumsiness and Death's Charge has too long a recharge to be reliable. Shadow Refuge is the only significant source of healing, but it won't be enough.
3) You have a poor choice of armor. The added armor against physical damage is wasted as the Vaettir deal Earth damage.
4) You state your problem, but I think it is based on team play, not solo farming. If this is a build meant to farm, you won't live long enough to kill anything. Since you need to survive to farm, this build won't work for you.
If this is not a farming build, why state it is, and place it in the Farming forum? If it is, please give more detailed info on what you are trying to farm and where you are trying to farm with this.

Ya I am trying to kill some vaetirr near sifhala. Its going to be my first time. At the moment I am thinking of Perma Scythe instead. Like the guy who said it was a poor attempt of crit scythe. I was just trying to be original. :P
[build=Owpj8xjW6S8I6MygLi1gNXMXAAA]
However, I don't have essence of celerity and I have never used deadly paradox before. Is it like I wait until the skills are recharged and then my skills are 33% faster?

Using consumables just to farm those vaetires is to me a bad choice - i doubt you`ll make a decent return to cover costs.
Try what A.S.F suggests - a/e sliver wont work as anet in their infinite wisdom gave them godlike armor vs elemental dmg.
And to perma you need a/e or a/me ( most prefer a/e as its slightly easier to maintain ).
And in hm they`ll eat almost anything alive , tried a 600/smite build before for fun and damn do they hurt.
A/E perma uses gos , dp and sf - and always cast gos,dp ( some do dp then gos ) and then sf which means also watchin sf as its a "dead on" recharge cast or ur dead.
Check out some of the A/E threads in farming as they will be better at explainin the diff builds available for a/e permas and where best used.

Without essence of celerity you wont be able to perma as A/D. You can only perma as A/E or A/Me without an EoC.
I doubt that it would be worth spending the cash for an essence if all you are doing is farming the vaettirs outside sifhala (or, for that matter, the ones in jaga moraine since the EoC would end when you zone).
Second, the vaettrs outside sifhala are scourge vaettrs rather than mist. That means they have signet of judgment which will knock you down and eat right through shadow form in hm. With little or no healing you will die very quickly.

I like the fact that your trying to be original there is too much emphasis on too few builds these days.
Even if these builds are the best to use its good your trying out new ideas.
Work on using skills to survive don't worry about killing them yet just try to survive their attacks you can always work on a more efficient kill combo when you have your defence working.

It is good that you are trying to be original. I'm sorry if I misunderstood which vaetrrs you are aiming for.
Are you trying to kill the vaetrs in jaga moraine where people farm holiday items (near the sacred fire from the blood washes blood quest)
Or are you trying to kill a different group? (When you said near Sifhala, I assumed the ones in Dakkar Lake)
Are you wanting to do it in hm or nm? (I would assume hm if it is the ones in jaga and nm if they are the ones in Dakkar?)
Are you wanting to stick with A/D or will another secondary work for you?
If it is the group in Dakkar, I do have a A/Mo build that will work in nm (though slowly). I'm not familiar with Dervishes so I don't know if you could change it to work for you if you want to use A/D. There is also a simple gimmick A/any build that will blow up the Dakkar lake ones (at least the ones right outside Sifhala) in HM using Budger. But I get the feeling you are trying to avoid that.

I would like to do that. However, at the moment I don't really have i am unstoppable and dwarven stability so I am substituting for this
[build=OwZk0lezHPmk0HPiOTZGx3BT0TNI]
However my shadow arts is 14 and I can only have it for 20 seconds. I need some help!
At the moment my equipment has +6 energy combined and +2 in shadow arts combined. I need a breakthrough!

Your a Perma Shadow Form Sin, you will take no damage so who cares how much health you have USE A SUPERIOR SHADOW ARTS RUNE and Radiant Insignias.
Lord Hagen
Well, for keg farming (the one in the video) you don't need I am unstoppable or Dwarven stability, you just need the first 3 skills to keep up SF (get a superior shadow arts rune and a +1 headpiece, though you are able to do it with only 15) and a shadowstep to an ally (Ebon escape, Death's retreat) to get to Budger if you get stuck.
Here you can see the path to get to the vaettirs:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...3&postcount=42
You can walk trough Drakkar Lake without aggroing anything, just watch for the patrols.
If you aren't able to pass pass some enemy, just bomb them :P

Ah - so it is the vaettrs in jaga moranine you are after. Sorry for misunderstanding. some suggestions:
1st - as said by the poster above, you should get a superior shadow arts rune and put it on a +1 shadow arts mask. that will take you to 16 shadow. They are down to 1.5k now (you are lucky, when perma shadow first became possible they jumped to 20k). If you can't afford 1.5k, get a major rune for 100g. You can maintain at 15.
2nd - go ahead and pick up dwarven stability. It is a reward for a single quest from Undrath Blastrock in Sifhala and I think you can complete it fairly easily. You don't need DS to make the run, but it does make it easier and, if you use an alcohol before activating, it also keeps you from being knocked down. (use it just before encountering the avalanches or Modniirs)
3rd - don't worry about damage skills, you won't be using them since the idea is to kill them all with kegs.
4th - you don't mention what kind of weapon you have. A weapon with +20% enchant mod is an absolute must.
5: From the skills you are using, I can see you are probably carrying daggers. It would be better to drop the daggers and pick up an axe or sword with the enchanting mod. That will free up your other hand for a focus of some kind for more energy. Or even a staff will give you more energy than daggers.
6: as already said, get as many high energy runes/insignias as you can. Outside of Modniirs, avalanches and a couple of mandragors on the run, nothing will touch you through shadow form. So, maintaining SF is more important than health or armor on this run.
7: A skill like ebon escape or heart of shadow which shadow steps you to a new location is handy as the vaettrs will easily block you in if you are not watching, preventing you from getting to Bludger. (viper's defense, return, recall and death's retreat will all do similar things thing)

That farm uses no attack skills at all. In fact, you never need to attack.... at all. All the damage comes from Budger Blackpowder and the kegs he gives you. Drop the attack skills, and take skills to get you there. You will want speed boosts to run past mobs on the way there, and even though SF keeps you safe, it doesn't stop all damage. The Modinir use a monster skill that doesn't target you, but will knock you down. That is what IAU is used for, to get past them. Once you get to a point to kill things, you simply talk to Budger and he gives you a keg. Drop the keg, then get another one. Keep dropping kegs until the monsters are dead.
You need new armor, or you need to modify your armor. You also need a new weapon, preferably one with energy AND 20% enchanting.

Dwarven stability is also easy to get - just keg farm it as quest is outside sifhalla once u get it.
IAU i never use on any keg runs - waste of a skill slot if u only use it a few times.
If u use the correct route you can walk ( ive walked it without usin any skills at all from bar ) from sifhalla exit ( drakker ) down to norrheart then in norrheart head towards gunnars - map shows a rocky outcrop thats below the centaur lane - go under that rocky bit an follow to gunnars then head up into bjora.
That route means you only face 1 small mob of centaurs and usually u can run past them or they move away an go bear attacking and again u can run past.
MagmaRed - sometimes i attack but only to pull a mob if its just in range but not aggro range.Usually i carry earth staff of enchanting , asterius scythe ( enchanting an zeleaous for nrg gain , platimum scyles of enchanting and storm bow of enchanting - bow for pulling , scythe for nrg in mobs if im messin with them , sickle for 1v1 nrg ( faster than scythe ).

[build=OwZlgQdo38xjJJ9xjozUmR8dwE9UDC]
My shadow form goes to 22 seconds, but the thing is when to execute the skills... I need some help, I don't know why I am screwing up when practicing the execution and I am always one second short.
Edit
At the moment I am focused on getting the sequence of the perma right. So, anything else that is said won't catch attention

So, anything else that is said won't catch attention you dont have a +20% enchant mod on your weapon, it's easy, press 1, 2, 3, if you have low energy, specially with daggers, learn how to time your casts, glyph lasts a few seconds, which is enough to regain all of it's casting cost before you cast paradox and sf, also i like to cast paradox a bit early before sf is running out, so it has a few seconds to regen some of it's cost as well, get yourself an enchant mod, and you wont have to worry about that 1sec.

At the moment I am focused on getting the sequence of the perma right. So, anything else that is said won't catch attention If your gonna play a perma then I recommend you get more weapon sets. Also take the superior shadow arts rune off the shoes, you only need the one on the headpiece. Recommend you get all energy mods for your armor, Attunment runes (except headpiece) and Radiant insig's. For your weapon sets I would recommend:
1. Zealous enchanting daggers with +5 energy preferably
2. Zealous enchanting scythe with +5 energy preferably
3. This set needs to be a high energy enchanting staff or sword/axe & focus.
During normal play use set 3. That way you have +4 pips of energy regen. Once you have stacked enemies up then you can switch to set 2 which will give you +3 energy per scythe swing as long as you are hitting 3 enemies. When you get down to one enemy left then you can switch to set one or back to set 3. It takes a little practice but it is very easy and energy should not be an issue if you do it correctly.

The first cast goes just like hitting [Glyph of Swiftness] and [Deadly Paradox] at the same time.
Right after that use [Shadow Form].
Then you can do whatever you were intended to do: run around, kill enemies with the rest of your skills (4-8).
When Shadow Form's recharge status is on the green zone (check the pic above) just hit [Glyph of Swiftness] and [Deadly Paradox] like you did the first time and then [Shadow Form] when it has recharged.

You are a life saver! I am just going to take a few days off for exams and then I will be perma running along 1 platinum per each checkpoint!

Make sure you change your armor. I'd advise a second armor set when you can afford it so you can run other builds without bad armor.
5 Radiant Insignias
1 Superior Shadow Arts rune (not 2)
1 Minor Deadly Arts (not needed, but useful)
1 Vigor (best you can afford, but even this isn't NEEDED, so you could swap it for an Attunement)
2 Runes of Attunement (3 if you don't use the Vigor)
Then, make sure you have a weapon (or 2) with +20% enchanting on it. Can be Daggers, Scythe, Staff, Sword/Axe/Spear, but you MUST have one.
After you get your armor and weapons set, then go sit anywhere you want and cast Shadow Form continually. You won't need any monsters around to practice the timing of the skills, but you won't get to practice switching to a Zealous weapon. After you learn how to maintain Shadow Form, go try it on some monsters.
