What bothers me the most it's that we don't have a server

and we won't have a server (for GW2) in latin america, so we could achieve lower latency ingame.Since the launch of prophecies there is a HUGE community which speak spanish and portuguese who lives in Latin America, i'm almost sure that it's 3x times bigger or even more than Japanese/Taiwan community and however we don't have server located here which would seriously help the latin gamers who helped this game to have continuous growth to keep buyin and playing this game.

I know that most people here couldn't care less about this, but i'm sure that there is many people here that agree with me and would like to know the reason for that, since NCsoft have representation almost anywhere (including in South America) and that wouldn't cost that much.

Too late to bitch about this since it's been 4 years since GW launch but hey, at least show some love for those who supported you when GW2 launchs.


PS: I'm saying that cuz i'm really fed up with getting 280-400 ms ping from american servers and not being able to infuse/interrupt properly and not doing some roles as well as i could do, and ITS NOT my connection/route since i have a 10mb connection very well configured. Those of us in Oceania have to live with the same thing. It sucks, but deal with it because it isn't going to change any time soon.

It's hard to believe that they ignored both continents like this, and support china which is obviously a WoW "RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO" and will forever be.Does anyone have ever told regina that? so she could tell the GW2 team to not forget about some huge market which could give at least 500k players for their "chart" ?!

OP has a point and it's funny cuz I used to game with some chinese who lived in south america. Arenanet is looking for more money and all they have to do is set up servers and better service their existing customers down there. The game is built all they need to do is add some servers to get more people to buy and play the game.

No, THAT was just dumb. As I was attempting to point out, this is a pretty massive effort for a relatively small reward. Setting up new servers all over the world is going to cost a lot of time and money, and for a 'dying' game is definitely not worth it to Anet.

It is annoying to people who do live in these areas, but we just have to face up to the fact that we are a relative minority and will probably not be catered to in the same way as the rest of the world.

The only thing that cross my mind when i think about this (why didn't they put a server in both - Oceania and South America) it's that they never really though that the game was going to break this barrier and be the only game who really stood up to World of Warcraft "greatness" making gamers from all over the world want to play this.

Nevertheless, we can't get in touch to Guild Wars 2 team so probably they will ignore AGAIN a great piece of the market and launch the game in the same way that they did with the original Guild Wars. :/ Too bad. GTG.

Take that for Oceania cuz believe me there is a HUGE MASSIVE COMMUNITY from Latin America, and there is a great POTENTIAL to awake MORE customers if they just put 1 or two servers located here.

Not talking about GW1, dead game is dead - i'm talking about what could happen to GW2 if give a little respect... GTG ;(

There is a pretty big community down here also, but it pales in comparison to North America or Europe. I would imagine similar results when comparing South America to those also. There may be a lot of us, but face it, we're still a minority - and when have developers started catering to the minority?

LOL, J/K, it would seem odd for a company to not at least look into the possibility of placing servers in places that "Warrant" enough people to do so. So it must be that 500k people isn't much to them. Odd but true.

I would say it's more due to the fact that 500k is likely something of an exaggerated estimate. Not to mention the fact that Anet probably DID consider it and rejected the idea. Of course with no confirmation of this from an Anet staff member this is impossible to say for sure, but it seems logical that they would have considered having servers in other parts of the world also.

Nope its not an over exagerrated estimate.Not at all.There was ONE alliance with over 1000 players from Brazil and they were PvE-Based not counting other alliances from that country neither, most of them really active not counting the casual players and those who purchased and don't play anymore (and again there is many more alliances from that country which i'm not counting and they are as big as this one that i was once in).

Take that as an example and now join with these countries: Mexico, Argentina, Colômbia, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Cuba, Equador, Guatemala, República Dominicana,Costa Rica Trinidad e Tobago,El Salvador, Uruguai, Panamá, Jamaica, Bolívia, Honduras, Paraguai, Bahamas, Nicarágua, Haiti, Barbados, Antilhas Neerlandesas, Suriname, Belize,Antígua e Barbuda, Santa Lúcia, Guiana, Granada, São Cristóvão e Névis, São Vicente e Granadinas, Dominica.

You would EASILY get 500k players AND LIKE I SAID, it's a community bigger than Japanese/Taiwan/Chinese and why latin america doesnt have ONE SINGLE server located in south america?!

I'm from Portugal although i'm living in Brazil for almost 5 years. And i can say with certainty there is a HUGE potential here for GW2 even knowing that Anet ignored them in GW1.Not only that they are the biggest community after America and Europe in GW1, that's for sure. I'm not asking them to do that NOW, the game is dieing that wouldn't help just make Anet spend their last Resources, i'm just discussing something that was ignored and it can't be ignored twice when they launch GW2.

Yep, we here in Australasia have had the same gripes since this game started....

We have always wanted/needed a server here in AU but we will never get one not even for GW2 I don't think

new server locations would be a nice addition for competitive play. unlikely though.

They have servers in Asia because NCSoft has a (large) presence there. Same with America and Europe. You're basically asking them to set up a new facility in South America just so you can drop your ping from 300 to 150ms.

You were attempting to be a smart ass but failed at being smart. To lump south america in with anartica (?) or even africa is stupid. No one said to set up servers all over the world. Only to set up a south american server for a well populated and growing internet population.

Pretty sure the only thing that failed was your sense of humor. And your ability to perceive people's points. I was simply using those as an (obviously) exaggerated comparison. Setting up servers in a location where Anet have no previous facilities/resources/employees is a ridiculous expense, which is completely infeasible for GW, and will likely be ruled out for GW2. Unless of course that Anet decide that the community there is indeed big enough to warrant such an investment.
