i recently got a new computer that runs vista.
everything works perfectly except when i try to zone into certain places in eotn (rata sum, central transfer chamber, slavers, etc...) the screen goes black after the loading bar finishes and when i minimize gw there is a error message poping up telling me to go to the tech support page on the gw main site.

my issue is that my new computer has the intel intergrated graphics chip set

has anyone who also runs vista had this problem?
if so how did you fix it?

any help would be great
i wanna get back to farming!

I've seen this documented on GuildWiki in various places...

Quote:
Bug! Some players, especially players using Windows Vista or who have encountered igfx display driver errors before, may experience a bug upon trying to enter this area.
A window appears stating that Guild Wars has encountered an unrepairable error and the program will be terminated.
A link to Guild Wars support is also provided which will walk you through updating your graphics card drivers.
Even after taking these steps, some players will still receive this error message every time they attempt to enter this area.
You may receive this error message even if your graphics card meets the game requirements.
Immediately minimizing Guild Wars upon entering the area and leaving it for about a minute, and then maximizing it, may circumvent this error.
If not, your only option is to contact the company that made your graphics card and hope that they can resolve the issue, or buy a new graphics card.

you'll need to run through that program if you want to not crash in those areas. however, if you don't often play there, there isn't MUCH difference between dx8 and dx9, so you don't particularly need it.

Yeah, Moriz make that sticky the stickiest of all stickys please.

Bahamutz69 - rather than playing GW on any of the INtel graphics, you should consider upgrading to a dedicated video card... you could get one that would max out GW for about $50.00 and you would notice a big difference too. It's an easy upgrade to do and something to consider.....

I would suggest that, if your computer has an actual PCIexpress graphics slot - some low end computers don't - your most satisfactory solution is to buy a basic video card. Since most computers that only come with on-board graphics have power supplies around 300watts, you'd want to make sure the card's "system requirements" don't exceed your specs.

Edit - also check that the motherboard chipset isn't overheating. Make sure that, if it has a fan on it, the fan is running. And blow the dust out.
