Thinking of coming back to GW
Introverted Dimensions
I quit GW around late october last year for WoW because GW had been rather boring. I'm taking a small break from WoW right now as I'm having connection/pc issues with the game since it's a rather large one.
Has there been any new changes/additions to GW in recent months? Whats there to do in GW anymore.
I've forgotten almost everything about this game and when I last played I used to go on vanquishing runs with my guild which I assume is probably dead.
I have the original, NF and EoTN expansions.

imo don't resubscribe to guild wars, guild wars 2 beta should be out in a few months so you should just wait til then to do guild wars.

If you want to come back, now is a great time if you want to get rich quick. DoA is becoming real popular and the classic FoW/UW SC's are still easy ways to make quick cash + xunlai tournament rewards.
Just join the dark side of Shadow Form and learn to use it to its full potential. In due time it will thank you for its patronage through rewards greater than you can possibly imagine. SF has made this game so profitable that even coming back now and starting a new char, you can fill up your HoM within a few months. (may I recommend making a sin? :P) Yeah it may be a lil' broken, but as I always say, if it's broke, don't fix it XD

I'm not really worried about money as I did do alot of 55 farming back in the day.
I reinstalled it and am currently vanquishing NF. I'm thinking of picking up factions but I think I'll wait.

I haven't noticed any great changes in GW. There may have been some minor updates and skill tweaks, but it's still basically the same GW. The way some people whine about "nerfs", you'd think the game had shut down. (And if they nerf "perma-sin" the whining will go into over-time. )
One thing you can do for fun is to start a new character of a type you hadn't played before. For example, the only character class I hadn't played was Ritualist, so I started a new one.
To make things even more "old school" you can try to do the new character without getting any gold or equipment from Storage or your other toons. (But, no, I didn't do that myself).
Or you could experiment with some of the farming builds. I've done some of that lately too - Perma-sin, 3-man famine, etc. - but I find that sort of farming boring. (I'd rather play WoW than farm over & over. )

Not to sidetrack this into a WoW discussion, but, yes, one of the reasons I got a little bored with WoW were the constant "kill 16 of this creature" quests.
However, doing these quests once to advance your character, I wouldn't consider "farming", since I wouldn't do them over & over. At any rate, there would be other things I could do in WoW.
I'm not going to bash WoW - WoW has it's good points and those who like it, like it a lot. My main reasons for stopping WoW had more to do with a lack of people to play with. Brothers Disgruntled [BD], the clan/guild I'm in, is a multi-game clan. The people who play WoW have all been playing for several years and are level 80's doing raids (in a PvP realm, Gorefiend). I didn't enjoy WoW enough to bother finding a different guild on a PvE realm.

Can find plenty of free MMORPGs with quests like that *cough*Rappelz*cough*
Will never understand why people pay a monthly subscription for lack of depth and imagination like that.
Can count on one hand how many quests in GW require you to simply kill X number of whatever. Normally you have to kill stuff cause it's in your way of completing the actual quest.
Guild Wars has so much variety not only in the quests but in things you can do.
I am not gonna start listing them because that would be long but here are a couple examples...
Rollerbeatle Racing
How about a snowball fight?

I just came from WoW, leveling is the worst part of the game. It is a grind to 80, a long hard grind.
The game for me started at 80, 25 man raids were the most fun I have had in PvE in an mmo. 25 mans, pre wrath of the lich king, actually took some coordination, now it is just an all out zerg-fest.
The only setback of WoW is that raiding at a high level did take a lot of time, on top of the gold it required to raid at a high level, aka Flasks, pots, mats, reagents. This usually lead to farming, which as you all know is tiresome, unless you have glider of course. On top of that hiogh end raiding guilds raid at set time obviously, usually 4-5 days a week for 3+ hours on progression raids. In the end I stopped because that was the only fun part of the game and it just ended up taking too much time, even with glider.
Wow has a really nice interface, huge community, and many content updates. I miss the auction house though, it was an easy money maker, to capitalize on unsuspecting people, haha.

I made roughly 30k a month, which is pretty good. I bought 2 mammoths on the release of WotLK, but they changed it, and made it not so cool anymore.
Regarding raiding, I agree it takes too much time. I like to be able to play my games when I want to, not on a schedule. Secondly, raiding is extremely boring now. The raiding that was fun was Sunwell pre-3.0 nerf or Archimonde for the first time. The new naxx was zerged down in gear attained at level 70. Ensidia leveled from 70-80 and cleared all content in 3 days of release, that is just sad. Whereas old naxx 40, only the top guilds were progressing in naxx and no one downed the four horseman for 4 weeks, not 4 hours like the new naxx.
Obviously Vanilla had its time too, but it is long gone (40 mans).
To sum it up, I do not think WoW is worth the $15 anymore, the content is too easy, there is not enough hard content to keep me wanting to play. Farming the same instance until November is not fun, even if there is 3 weeks of progression [as we are not the best guild in the world, but a good one ]
GW is refreshing to me, it has a good story from what I have played.

Yea, WoW is a really good game, and there is a great community, with 11 million players. That being said 11 million players still has a lot of idiots.
Raiding used to be an achievement of 25 people pulling together a good effort and lots of team work. M'uru in Sunwell was the ultimate fight for me pre-WotLK. If 2 or 3 people died, and you did not immediately battle rez them you wiped. Even a missed heal would set off a wipe, and thats why so many guilds stopped at m'uru until they nerfed it. Once they nerfed it people killed m'uru and kil'jaedan the night they got nerfed!
WoW has taken a turn for the worse imo. Hard modes of instances are not that interesting. The fights just used to be hard, now they are making it gimmicky.
