What's with the new login screen info?

If logging in after our new update your characters will not display normally, re-log to fix for each character.

I doubt that has to do with the anniversary.

Think of it like an hourglass. They have to make sure plenty of people are on Guild Wars. Once that's set, and all the sand has fallen, then all hell breaks loose.

True, I'm in uk and it's 1.22 am, but personally, It'll come when it comes. after all they've said it's gonna be a BIG update so you can't expect it to just be rolled out with no quality control.

I was told at like 3 CST that in 3 hours the update would happen and it still hasn't. I did log in to see the verdict and saw the new login screen. That makes no sense but okay...

I couldn't care less about the cupcakes and the boardwalk. What I want to see is the menagerie and the armor/weapon storage updates. Sure if the cupcakes came first it would give me something to do but geez...

CSI will be on in about 30 mins here and if I come back and the update still hasn't happened...I'll shock even myself and go play WoW.

Because this is totally ridiculous.

It's not that they're not giving us a time now, it's that they didn't to begin with. First they said Friday the 23 so that was wrong, and then of course there was no time mentioned about when the update would occur, just that it would be today. For all we know it could be midnight which would make it Friday.

Quit complaining!! Give these guys credit. I've been playing GW for 3+ years and I've never seen major issues after a big update, unlike my recent experiences with WoW Patches and EVE expansions. Would you rather they put it out and have problems or just get it done right the first time?

Besides, this is nothing, last year with the EVE Empyrean Age update, the game was completely DOWN for an extra day after the found issues that the patch caused. At least we can still play the game while we wait.

P.S. It's just a game, go find something more constructive to do while you wait. The world won't end if the update's not out in the next few hours.

Well I'll admit WoW patches suck but at least there's something to do on it usually...

Gah yeah Guild Wars pwns WoW hands down, I'm just mad that we were hardly informed of this update and all we knew was that it would happen today, so here we all are waiting for this update that may not happen until midnight. That's pretty dumb if you ask me - at least give us a time ESTIMATE if nothing else...

As a former Programming Student turned Networking major, I can tell you that sometimes they can't give you an estimated time as the may not have an estimate. The various software programs used for programming don't always tell you where a mistake/problem is in the code if there is one. Sometimes a perfectly good line of code will show up as bad code, when in actuality there is bad code somewhere else. This can take hours to figure out and fix. However, we don't know what is taking so long and it could be something else rather than the programming part. There could be an issue in with the Database, the server hardware, or the network(though I doubt any of these are the problem). Maintaining any type of computer system, even a game, is not an easy task AND it even harder when an undersized team are the one maintaining it.

I completely agree with you. I would rather wait for it to be complete and the best it can possibly rather then rushed and unfinished.

Looking at this update I can easily imagine what GW2 can be like -- all about overcosted microtransactions and buying ingame advantages (bypassing playable content - like the pet unlock pack) by paying lots of real $$$.
