Yep lol,

Storage upgrade? impossible! (because the way the games been coded or similar excuse)

Gender change? Impossible! (remember Aprils fool? yes it was free lol)

Over the years these changes have been suggested from the release of Prophecies and could have been implemented into the expansions we bought but weren't. The 'master plan' wasn't ready I see *strokes chin*

Too much self ownage by Anet really.

Okay, sorry to be mean here but the free answer to changing a character's looks/name/etc is to delete the character and start over. That option to do this is still free unless they have now put up a charge for deleting characters which I doubt. If you don't want to delete your character because you have GWAMM on that character, then all I can say is SUCK IT UP! You should have put more thought into the way your character looked or the name back when you created them (and don't tell me you made the character 4 years ago when you were 13). If you have been able to play on that character for this long without deleting it, obviously the character's looks or name must have been tolerable!

Again, I'm sorry for sounding mean but to me, this charge sounds completely reasonable especially since A-Net did not make OUR characters. We did.

The only reason ArenaNet is doing this is because World of Warcraft did it, and it worked.

They won't change it.

They should have released a new campaign or at least some kind of expansion that people wouldn't feel bad about buying instead of wasting manpower on this shit

I think one of the problems is that they don't sell things in smaller portions. What if I only wanted to change one character's looks? I don't want to pay $10 for that! Technically it's $2 per a change anyways which is more reasonable IMO, so why not sell them in singles for $2 each? They could even refine that further... $2 total but 5 things to change (hair style, hair color, face, skin color, and/or body scale) so 40c for each thing. They could sell tokens for 40c each that only change one thing at a time, or they could sell 5 of them for $2 each. And they could they could easily bump the singles up to 50c and probably sell more too.

The way it is now is just greedy and will probably hurt them more than anything (the same thing for Skill Packs... hate those... they should have made Profession Packs or sell each skill for like 5c each... that would actually be MORE than what most skills cost in packs. Plus it would be better for PvP characters + heros as most professions don't even cost 9.99 to unlock everything on them). Anet just fails with pricing.

I'm staggered that in spite of this downturn in the global economy that Anet have released these char changes as a premium service. I would be more than happy to buy some changes if it was more reasonably priced. To charge nearly $10 is a huge oversight on their part and i can't see many players i know buying any of these cosmetic packs. Spend money on proph or factions or storage pane etc..i know what i'd do given the choice

Give the option of also making us pay in game gold for the makeover. Or a quest to find magical collagen.

Anet has actually just made it easier for gold sellers. For a similar price people might go off and get 300k in game gold instead to remake the character :P

Who would be stupid enough to pay for any of this crap? when GW2 comes out in like 20 years (ok 2 but come on now) people will forget all about GW1 except the newbs and just play GW2 meaning all that money they wasted will have been for naught

I thought they said it's impossible to change name and make a hair stylist?

WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER TO JUST RELEASE NEW CONTENT? I don't know, PvE people could get another campaign, PvP could get some maps and of course skill updates -.-

Simply having the option available is a plus. The live team undoubtedly spent alot of time on this update, and to complain because a small part of it is not completely free is selfish when none of us pay a monthly.

There were many threads in sardelac on this and many people said that they'd even be willing to pay for the Stylist type of thing. Anet said it wouldn't be possible, but they eventually got the live team together and reversed the decision.

Even if you, like myself, will NEVER find yourself paying for this option, at least having the ability to do it if we change our minds is a plus. If enough people simply politely decline to pay for they may lower the price or offer a "promotional event" or a "change your char day" where you can make any major change for free to your char once. But if people continue to throw it back in anet's face, well, shows them they shouldn't have given us the option in the first place.

I don't understand how you can say that people are moaning for no good reason.

We get it, you guys need money badly but for god's sake this is just horribly overpriced. All these features that so many people have wanted since Prophecies and you put them out of reach of any sane person.

Even the equiptment bags which I really wanted seeing as I have so many 55 and 600 armor sets, and other armors that I stopped using but can't bear to sell, are really hard to get :(.

Exactly, so what was the point of your original post? Because I got the feeling you were implying that the costs of these 'features' was justified by server fee's. So make your mind up.

I will only pay my dollars if Anet get me purchase additional number of heroes I can bring at a time. I will pay $10 per extra hero I can bring with me!!!

Come on, let me play with my heroes by my way! I want to build a team with my heroes and max the build.

So by this logic because EQ and EQ 2 added an Item mall to their game with xp boosters and other stuff that clearly gives unfair advantages to players Anet will also do it in this and future games as well?

Once again - it's all about pretty.
And once again - a good choice for payable content with a bad price.

Now THIS would be bad.
This extends beyond pretty and would as such be a really shitty addition for payable content.

No, if I can pay $ to be able to play all parts of the game alone whenever I want to, I'll do it.

I won't complain if additional hero slots are free. But if not, at least let me buy them.

Reading from the update notes seems like a great update! Been waiting for something like the stylist for ages

The prices are a bit high, but still within the range I'm willing to pay. At least the changes are permanent
So among all this whining I just wanted to add one positive post here \o/

Sex-change operations? WTH?

I remember the April fools update when they switched sexes of our characters. Logged in and loaded my cute monkette only to see a big ugly brute. I almost threw up with disgust.

Anyhow, looks like a good update to me. Although the prices are a bit high and packages could have been sold as one use only for $2.

When subscription based games charge you extra to change gender and name its a-ok. When a subcription fee game does it, its criminal.

The point is that the actual in-game NPC dialogue says that "due to the cost of R&D this service cannot be free of charge."

WHAT ADDITIONAL R&D WAS REQUIRED TO MAKE THESE CHANGES? Salaried Developer time. Already paid for, nothing additional. The code was already there. April fool's, reported offensive name, character creation screen. All it possibly could have required were three scripts tying an NPC to those packets of code. Those packets of code already have the functionality of tying changes into everything related to the character. Links to customized items are already there, the only "link" would be the character Identification code and the associated skins and textures.

I don't code but I know how it works. $15 for a name change? Was that to prevent abuse? If it was $5 people still wouldn't have been falling over themselves renaming their characters every other day. I'd say the $15 and $10 should be used to give the account full access to the NPC's permanently across all characters. Pay the due, one time. Be able to change a character's name once a month. Change the hair, face, colors once a week. Allow a reset on all changes.

That's fair, that's how you'll win over most of us, I'm sure. You can keep your $10 storage tabs, they're one-time permanent things. Fine. But per-change names/looks? That's ridiculous.

There's more to this update than just that.

For me personally, and in regards to the stylist, I don't enjoy the fact that I'd have to pay so much to simply change my hair-do.

The pricing for everything is wholly unreasonable. That's all that there needs to be said here.

Some of the devs are gonna have to rethink this over but in the meantime it's best we all call for a boycott or they'll have the excuse to keep doing what they just did. As for the ones who paid for some of this already, shame on you people.... shame on you.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it myself. But that all comes down to the situation you are in. Sure you can remake a character if you don't like it, but say the character in question is a GWAMM, I think people could see value in spending 10 bucks that redoing all of that over. Changing names and looks is a server thing. I'm sure a bunch of people who claim to know the inner working of the program will come in and tell me how "fast, easy, and cost free" the changes are to implement.

I'd like to also note, the devs make the content, not price it. At least send your blame in the right direction.
