Nicholas the Traveler - Location Discussion (Updated Mondays)

i'm pretty sure HM doesn't effect collectable drop rates, (in general I've not noticed more collectables in HM than NM, could be wrong but that's my experience)

Out of my 20 gifts, 11 of them were 5 mysterious tonics... ELEVEN OF THEM!!

600 smite with Oggy. Ran out to HoS entrance killing 5 groups on way - 2 groups yielded 2 scales each. Zoned into HoS and out again. Killed the 2 groups at entrance - 0 from one and again 2 from the other.

About 3-6 per run seems right. Wish I had taken more offense on my bar though to speed things up. After the first 2 groups I just stopped using Spellbreaker because it wasnt needed.

Gah. I got 10 summoners, 10 transformers, and 5 green candies. I sold the candy (along with last weeks candy) and got a reasonable price for it though, so it's not too bad. I'll just farm and sell the scales now.

First account got summoning stones, blue rock candies, jars of honey, summoning stones, and more summoning stones (that's 10 merchant and 5 mysterious altogether). Second account got jars of honey, honeycombs, blue rock candies, blue rock candies, and mysterious summoning stones.

I had 6 scales on a mule, it took me an hour to get the remaining four. But I went with a full party of hero/hench, because I couldn't be bothered to find a decent build for this. The drop rate seems to be pretty decent, it's simple to run back and forth from the Central Transfer Chamber to the Heart of the Shiverpeaks, and the fact that Nicholas is only collecting one scale per gift... pretty easy.

Bah, just tonics, honeycombs and rock candy...

I wish the tonics were summoning stones instead, those suckers are fun.

where do we farm the chromatic drakes with a Mo/N or N/Mo 55 with SV ? which dungeon?

My gifts were very 'mysterious' this week: 3 x 5 summoning stones and 2 x 5 tonics.

And not the nice everlasting crate. No. Just 25 plain stupid fireworks.
When I want fireworks, I save materials and craft a crapload of them them in new year.

I'm playing through EotN with a friend so I have to wait to get to everywhere with chromatic drake except for Arbor Bay and Darkrime Delves.

I've done four Arbor Bay runs and not received a single scale yet. Not one! Time to try Darkrime Delves.

600/smite in Battledepths outside Central Transfer Chamber...5 groups of drakes in spitting distance with two more pretty close....very fast turnaround.

Ummm, are you sure you are going to the right Nicholas? Nicholas the Travelor gives 10 fireworks at a time so you should have had 50, not 25 if all 5 gifts were fireworks. The huntsman gifts from Nichols Stanford of pre-searing gives 5 fireworks at a time for a total of 25. Did you get them from him yourself in Eye of the North or buy them from someone. If you bought them, it sounds like you got scammed and they sold you huntsman gifts instead of travelor gifts. The huntsman gifts will never give you any of the cool options the travelor gifts will.

Got a YAK finally something of some sort of value

Did 3 times w/ 8 H/H , nothing from full runs (6+ groups). Got my ele, used above build in HM (except [radiation field] for the mesmer kurzick skill), and got 1-3 per run (3 groups - couldn't get past dervishes). Not sure where massive drops come from, but these don't appear to be loot scaled...

That build cannot take 3 dervish at teh same time , too much damage , but the build can take a full group of 5 (or 6) chromatic dragons.
