Possible work-around for NCSoft Storage panel problem

Like many of you, I had spent several hours over the past 24 hours to try to get into the NCSoft site to obtain the free storage upgrade. I was continually encountering lost connections, and when I did manage to get through, it gave me the invalid coupon error. I tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and encountered the same problems with both of those browsers.

In one of the other threads, someone mentioned that they'd managed to get in by using Chrome. Up until tonight, I'd never tried it. I installed it, and I gave it a shot. Guess what? It worked. I managed to get into the NCSoft site, albeit slowly, and finally managed to get the storage upgrade.

One other tip - instead of following the directions listed on the site, I did one other thing differently. When I reached the NCSoft site, I logged in first before going to the store page for Guild Wars. I'm not sure if that matters or not, but just in case it helps, you can try that too.

I really don't know why it should make this big of a difference, but obviously both Firefox and IE seem to be much more prone to encountering the timeout problems which are causing many players to be unable to get their storage upgrade. So if you haven't tried Chrome yet, give it a shot and it might let you finally get your storage. If it doesn't work, you can always uninstall it.

I can tell you it's not chrome because I have tried all day using chrome. I will try the log in work around and see if that helps.

I think you just got lucky

For the record, I had been trying the alternate login sequence using Firefox and IE as well, but I kept getting timeouts and the invalid coupon error. First try with Chrome was completely different. Zero timeouts, and I got my panel. So I am quite certain that Chrome was the difference here, at least for me.

I'm still trying ~ and probably will be until the end of May at this rate. My solution to this mess would have been to gain access to the free storage pane via the Xunlai Agent, like when we had to open our accounts to begin with.

Oh - look...timed out AGAIN!

I loaded up Chrome (using it now); no joy. BUT Chrome is super fast on a side note. This is probably a protocol issue that NCSoft is going to have to address to deal with the massive amounts of request for these specific pages (maybe they should have planned for this eventuality?). And yes, access to the free tab would have been better through Xunlai. However, it was likely their intent to direct as many players as they can to the store in hopes of more purchases.

I'm greatly disappointed runes still don't stack (why tomes and not runes?). I've been waiting for a while to get rid of my "mule" character. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I managed to get all the way to where you confirm your order and hit submit order...hit the submit button and got page could not be displayed. Fortunately for me, I logged on and the panel was added still.

So if you get that far, log on, you may be in luck.

They just took down the site for "scheduled maintenance". Uh-huh.

im gonna go out on a limb and say heavy site traffic. I tried all last night and had issues. Slow load times, timed out and so on. Then before i went to bed i tried again 3:00 CST am. i went through and got the upgrade in like literally 3 minutes start to finish.

I think they just underestimated the amount of traffic this would generate.

I also logged in first too and got mine before a lot of people, BUT that didn't change the slowness and constant time outs.

Now I know this might not be the thing you want to hear but - just happily AFK till the 28th.
Then wait a week and after that, try to get the storage.

The thing OBVIOUSLY isn't working as it should - so no point in losing one's time and nerves.

The only thing this storage thing has done is piss a lot of people off and that's not good for a game that's losing players. If anet wanted to give people free storage then they should of just give it everyone during the update with no hassle.
There's nothing worse that getting freebies with strings attached.

Ofc they could prepared better, but its quite stupid to say only pissed alot of players. We have to remember that everyone else is trying at the same time, and we have created the problem ourself. Also the free storage goes to the 29th May, so we still have alot of time..

The only tip that I can give which can make it somewhat work, is login first with the Login link at the top right. Then go back to the store's main page (with all the GW stuff)

I am browsing with Chrome, the latest dev channel version.

It is really a good browser, but it does not mean that it is better for the NCSoft Store than others.

A friend got it first try using Internet Explorer 7 while I was still trying, which made me try harder till it finally worked out.

I must admit that this thread gave me the occasion to try Chrome for real and I'm quite surprised with its speed. The NCsoft website is accessed faster.

Got it finally. the speed increase with Chrome is quite impressive (though it doesn't have the nice addons of Firefox). Anyway ontopic, I found my old plaync account's name in an old email from support (creating a new one wouldn't solve my issue since I can't link it to my GW account, already linked to the old one).
