ZaiShen Quests are the big inventory hog

HM Books for all 4 campaigns, Young heroes of Tyria, and dungeon is 6 spaces + space for coins.

I thought it is suppose to save you space, not make it worse.

Half the things mentioned (actually 80%) arent even zaishen quests...

Why do people insist on carrying the books and then complain about the space they take? You do not need to carry them to fill them. Just complete the conditions, ask for the book, pay to fill it, done. Costs 100g/page, or 1-5 monster drops.

Actually, that's all the zaishen quests are...missions. Do the missions, put them into the book.

But yeah, they count even if you get the book later and fill it out.

He's talking about synergising the rewards from z-missions with the rewards from books, it's a good idea.

I myself decided just not to take the damn books with me on the z-missions, because the reason I'm doing them is for the equipment pack because I need more storage. I don't have room for the books.

That's right. The idea of the Zaishen mission quests is so that it can synergize with the books if you are not carrying them then you are only gimping yourself.

If you decide not to carry the books then you are just not making full use of the opportunity they presented.

Yes you are right, but even at 100g per page, it can cost afew plats PER CHARACTER, as i am saving my gold if possible.

Without the quests, I would have done them 1 campaign at a time so I dont need different HM books all in my inventory at all times.

ANet, please lower the cost of the Equipment packs so that we can get them earlier!

Why Spend 10 Bucks a storage pane, when you can go to www.newegg.com and get an GW account for 15~ bucks and have more room than just 20 storage spots?

There's this thing called Storage where you can put stuff when not in use, in fact they just expanded it, free of cost. You don't need to carry all that crap on you all the time. The most you need is 1 book for the current mission and 3 slots for your various Zcoins.

Pay to fill the books in later.

So let me get this right, when you are doing raisu palace, you don't know which book you need. From my perspective any half wit would go the the xunlai chest and put the other ones in there if not being used. hmmm. So you feel like you are too lazy to switch them out everytime you do a diferent quest. You will find no pity here and you just look lame in the process.

Depending on how many characters you have, you could easily fill 2-3 or more panes of Storage JUST with books. You would be hard pressed to find many people with that much free storage space. So the OP's problem is not solved with your "solution", and you were rude on top of it.

I must strongly agree - all the new stuff from this update fills storage faster than it's available. Soooo many kinds of new stuff and that doesn't even include the 4th Birthday Minipet series.
The zaishen quests themselves made me waste A TON of inventory space on the storybooks - I've never cared about them and never used them before but now as I know I'll be going through all the missions again,

I doubt even spending the ridiculous $40 can do any good. Just look at the free anniversary pane - it filled in no time with the new stuff. Buy another one for $10? It will be full faster than you realise.

That's right, people here who dont understand the problem probably have only 1 or 2 playable characters and can't think any deeper. I have 8 playable characters per account (not counting the 1 pvp character per account), without buying any character slots, because I have been following GW ever since it was created. I bought every single campaign from ANet.

With 8 characters and each character having 6 books to swap back and forth from storage that means 40 slots are needed in my storage for the books and 1 slot in each character's inventory for a book. Even the free storage pane is not enough to house all that.

GW has 70+ missions total. If I pay for it at 100g per page to save the storage, that would mean I need to spend at least 56k per account of 8 characters. I have 2 accounts of 8 characters each, that means 112k across both accounts.

People with more characters have it bad in this update. Even though they have the opportunity to grind more by doing the quests more times, they have to grind more if they want equipment packs for all their characters.

You all are missing the point, zcoins can't be transferred. It looks like that means even between characters on the same account. So far your hearts out on each character just to get something you can transfer worth any value. Sorry for being rude tonight but i have been drinking for almost 13 hours now.

Not being able to store zaishen coins in the storage is a bug that will be fixed.

You can pay 100g per mission to fill the book.

Young Heroes of Tyria has 12 entries - that's 12*100g = 1.2k. The book will give you 6.5k in prophecies or 4.5k in nightfall and factions.

The Flameseeker Prophecies has 18 entries - that's 18*100g = 1.8k. The book will give you 8k in NM and 12k in HM.

Shiro's Return has 11 entries - that's 11*100g = 1.1k. The book will give you 4k in NM and 6k in HM.

Night Falls has 17 entries - that's 17*100g = 1.7k. The book will give you 6k in NM and 9k in HM.

Hero's Handbook has 11 entries - that's 11*100g = 1.1k. The book will give you 4k in NM and 6k in HM.

Master Dungeon Guide has 18 entries - that's 18*100g = 1.8k. The book will give you 8k in NM and 1.2k in HM.

All books for a char (NM and HM) cost 16.2k or 162k if you have 10 characters.

You will get either 79.5k (if you turn the Young heroes book in nightfall/factions) or 81.5k (if you turn the Young heroes book in prophecies) per char to a total of a minimum 795k up to 815k if you have 10 chars.

Each character has 11 books. That's 110 books for 10 chars. You got 20 spaces in storage + 5 per equipment bag so that's 70 new spaces. So you still have a net loss of 40 spaces + 3 (3 coin types when the bug is fixed). Of course your equipment bag can be expanded - so after 3 large bags you are a lot better now. And have the chance to get 7 more bags for 105 extra slots.

Lets just consider the HM books.
6 books per char. 10 chars 60 books.
Total cost of filling the books - 8.7k or 87k for 10 chars. Money made by turning the books in - 49.5k (or 51.5k*) or 495k (or 515k*). Net profit 40.8k (or 42.8k*) or 408k (or 428k*) per 10 chars.

Space taken - 6 books per char or 60 for 10 chars. Storage gained with the update 20 from tab + 5 per equipment bag (2.5k cost). 10 chars gained 70 slots. Enough for all the books. And can be increased. 25k expense for 10 chars in bags will diminish the profit of the 60 books to 383k (or 403k*).

*value considering turning the Young heroes book in prophecies. The other value is for turning the book in nightfall/factions.

Total space gained after all the 10 chars are upgraded to large bags = 20*10+20(from pane) = 220.

If you have 8 chars its 180 spaces (and 12 less HM books or 22 less books if you include NM version).

So if you have 8 chars its 48 books. The 5 slot bag+ the pane gives you 60 slots. Until the coins bug is solved that's an extra 24 slots or you can just wait and keep them as copper and its only 8 slots. So if you keep them as copper coins the books and the coins take 56 spaces and you just gained 60 spaces. Bug solved and its 49-51 spaces.

You assumed:

1. Not being able to share coins between characters is a bug and would be fixed anytime soon. Maybe you are right or maybe not.
2. That I have enough space right now for all the books in all my characters. You are wrong there that means your idea falls apart.

I didn't assume. Anet stated. Go search the official wiki for the developers chat page or just go check the page about the 4rd year celebrations where they talk about the coins in the www.guildwars.com

Yes it as 13 and 16. Interestingly you only have to pay for 12 and 11 since the book comes with 1 and 5 already filled.

About you not having space, once again you gained enough space for the books. You couldn't have possibly be using space that didn't exist before. You got 60 spaces that didn't exist. You had to create 48 books.

Actually I have made a mistake. Young of tyria book give an extra 250 if turned in prophecies.

But the point prevails. This update increased space and rewards

And I am telling you that I dont have the freaking space to keep all 48 books at once, sure go ahead and ignore inconvenient facts. Also you didnt calculate the time factor, when will it be by the time I get the max equipment pack for all my 16 characters, considering that I have to work and I only have about 2 hours to play each day? 10 years later?

Your OP says the new update takes more space than it gives. You state the books and the coins.

Coins are bugged.
But even with them, once you got the pane and the 5 spaces of the bag you had enough space to create the books and copper coins!!!! And still have some free!!!

Sorry those spaces weren't occupied by stuff. They weren't there - nothing was there!

If you occupied them with other stuff than the books its not Anet fault.

I wished the bags were less grindy or at least they worked by upgrades to enjoy the space gradually, too.

But you just decided to embellish your wish with false information.

And you can pay to fill the books. Its not expensive, saves space and once you factor the zaishen quests rewards, those quests only will pay to fill the books and give you more money.

Of course you need other items in your inventory, you at least need salvage kits and id kits, consummables (as PUGs tend to fail too often), moa chick stuff, stuff to sell, mini pets, alcohol, tonics, tokens, ginger bread/christmas stuff (really need to sell these), victory tokens, lunar tokens, dyes, zkeys, passage scrolls, Zho's journals, tributes, and alternate weapons, etc. Ok some of these stuff are in my stash but still space is more limited with more characters in an account.

The free tab is only 20 spaces, not 60 spaces, since I am not buying the clearly expensive extra tabs.

Each character- 1 small bag from the merchant for 2.5k.

Each bag 5 spaces.

8 characters, you said you have, each with its bag for a total of 8 bags. (8x1=8)

8 bags x 5 spaces = 40 new spaces.

Lets add the storage pane in, which is 20 spaces.

40+20=60 new empty spaces.

40 from the 8 character with 1 bag each, total of 8 bags, that have 5 slots each, plus a pane for 20 spaces.

60 new spaces that didn't exist just turned in to reality for no REAL LIFE MONEY.

Now the books.

6 books per character as you said.

8 characters.

8 character with 6 books each. 8x6=48 books.

48 books take 48 spaces. You got 60 new spaces. 60-48=12 spaces free.

Each character needs to store copper coins cause they are bugged.

So 8 characters that need 1 (ONE) space for copper coins each.

8x1= 8 spaces used by the coins.

48 books + 8 coins = 56 spaces used

60 new spaces - 56 spaces used = 4 spaces left.

Ooof.

I think I'm going to pursue a Maths PhD because I'm clearly talented in advanced maths.

Except that after doing the quests this weekend, I have more than 250 copper coins per character now so the coins occupy 2 slots per char instead of 1. I changed them for silver coins but they still occupy 2 slots due to the leftover copper coins.

But no matter, I hope that bug gets fixed soon. The reason I used the 20 slot free tab for other stuff because some of my characters are so full, they only have 3 or 4 slots free in explorable areas to pick up drops. Even after spending 20k for 8 small equipment packs, I only have 4 spaces left from the free tab is still a bummer. 20 free spaces in my account will need to cover for the new 48 books to synergize with the zaishen missions. I have to spend another 20k, I am partially happy that I am able to buy a small pack from merchants, to make up the difference.

Considering that the free tab was sort of expected a long time ago when they announced the April storage update. This update doesn't help my storage space much and that is why people are unhappy. It is a matter of expectations versus reality.

You can pay still pay to fill the books. The space saved to pick up drops will pay for it and more in the long run.

But if you are so full like that, not even with the 9 panes would you have enough space.

The main thing I'm against in the new update regarding the bags is that you can't upgrade the basic bag with runes that would cost zaishen gold coins (5 per rune).

In the end each large bag would cost the same 15 gold coins, but you would be getting the space gradually instead of hoarding the coins while not getting any space.

Hope that they fix the bug soon too.

Yes having something like the rune of holding for equipment packs would be better. I hate to have to buy the small one and then have to discard it when I can get the maxed one much later.

Why would you ever need the NM books...no really why would you ever need the NM books???? The max rewards for all the PvE Z-quests can be obtained by doing them in HM. Bypassing the need for the half of the books. Of course if you're doubling your time to do them in NM and then again in HM, well you're just wasting time. You could just run multiple HM and gain more return on your time.

But anyway, I had COMPLETELY forgotten about the books. I guess its time to grab a few and shove them all in that nice fresh new storage pane thats been sitting empty.

And if you're really worried about the space from the Z-coins, convert them from copper to silver once you're over a stack to save space.

Don't go mentioning anything about paying money for more updates. It would appear that Anet takes it quite seriously...

Dont buy storage, Buy a new toon slot and have a mule. gogo 45 slots for the same price as a pane with only 20 !!
