Hey Guru Folks,
Today I asked myself- What is "Feather Farming"? And I couldn't find the answer. What professions do it? How do they do it? And where do they do it?
Thanks everybody!

loosely "feather farming" is killing specific enemies in order to gain feathers as the drop. Preferably solo and in hm.

I'm not sure whether asking for builds and in depth guide on farming an area is against the rules.

I think you farm all kinds of tengu: the star tengu in Nahpui Quarter, maybe the tengu outside LA.

The Feathers referred to are the Common Crafting Material. They are used for crafting the Essence of Celerity, and are thus worth a lot more than other common materials.

Typically, the mobs farmed are the Tengu in North Kryta Province outside of Lion's Arch and D'Alessio Seaboard. I farm them with a friend using the 600/Smite team in HM, and have had great success. Any profession should be able to adequately farm them in NM, since they are not high-level foes. Most of your troubles will come from physical attacks, however, Caromi Tengu Wild's carry [[Shatter Enchantment] which can be a real pain to builds that rely heavily on enchantments. Furthermore, the Mesmer Boss (if he spawns) carries [[Drain Enchantment] and [[Power Drain]. [[Shadow Form (PvE)] builds will have some trouble due to the Elementalist Boss carrying [[Flame Burst], and the Monk Boss carrying [[Holy Strike]. The route you take is rather simple. I have attached the path you should take below.

Should you decide to do this, be aware that Feathered Caromi Scalps can be exchanged during Halloween and Wintersday for festival items, so don't sell them to the merchant.

Is there any way to do this on a ranger? If it IS possible does it make a big difference? Because i DO have a monkette, just she's lv19. No big deal, just wanna know.

I farm feathers on my monk 600/smite. Usual 600/smite builds but with [arcane echo] for [spell breaker] and I farm the Sensali in Jaya Bluffs-Factions. They drop feathers and their common drop can be salvaged for feathers too.

Hope this helps

hunni - i tried that too but cannot get past those dumb yetis after them it's a piece of cake. but considering time, my warrior farm in same place is probably more profitable. time is 20 minutes (do it on nm) - no sweating, no swearing, just buttons spamming.

use same build as on elemental farming by the ascalon in hm.

Note, this is for farming in North Kryta Province, not Jaya Bluffs. I've never tried this, but you should do fairly well with a R/N Touch build. Try bringing the following:

Wilderness Survival 8+2
Expertise 10+1+1
Blood Magic 12
[Vampiric Bite][Vampiric Touch][Strip Enchantment][I Am Unstoppable][Dwarven Stability][Storm Chaser][Troll Unguent][Greater Conflagration]

Keep the spirit up (and somewhere safe) and maintain Storm Chaser using Dwarven Stability. Use Troll Unguent to counter degen from [[Conjure Phantasm] and [[Immolate]. Spam your touch skills on foes, and use Strip Enchantment on the Monk Boss to remove [[Healing Breeze] and [[Vigorous Spirit]. Use I Am Unstoppable for an armor boost for more survivability. Bring a +5 energy Sword/Axe/Spear, and a Blood Magic Offhand with +10AL vs Fire, and +30 Health.

Jaya Bluffs and Naphui quarter are easy to farm with a Ranger.

I'm not posting the builds because I have too many times already.

Do as Spiritz says and use the "search" function

Ya, Jaya Bluffs is the best spot to farm. I do it with my ele in NM. Run takes 10-15 mins
Feathers per run: 80-115

Canada...... Eh!

Look at the post here for more info on feather farming.

I like to use this build on my necro in Jaya Bluffs, but any profession can use it as long as they're /Rit 2ndary. Normal mode of course.

[Feather Farmer;OAhjYMhsITWMOOeTkiTMxTtlrlA]

A high-ish asura rank is better of course but not really needed, ditto with Deldrimor rank. Change out Mindbender for pretty much any other running skill. You can pretty much just run in and button mash and they die fast enough.

I can get 10 minute runs with this. I used to have a slightly better version, but I had to wipe my HD and lost everything

I think this and Jade's build have the fastest run times. I think there was an ele that had comparable times as well that was completely different.

When feathers drop, they drop in bundles of 19 - 24 feathers each. That means you get a stack of feathers per every 12 - 13 feather drops.

It is easy to kill everything except the bosses with a 600/smite, but you have to split half your feathers and celestial weapons. I find it is far more profitable (and less painful since there is no micromanaging) if you farm it with a 330 hp Rit.

I think I got just under 3 stacks of feathers last night in about an hour or so of farming. They were selling for 9k a pop in Lion's Arch. If you're doing it to sell the feathers for cash, there are far more profitable ways to make money, but if you're farming them for essences of celerity.......this is a great way to get them quickly.

The celestial weapons drops don't hurt either.

Im testing currently a rt/mo build which as ive not tried farming jaya bluffs before but ive managed 17 mins run and was being very carefull.
Almost the reverse of mo/rt - bar a few skill changes.
I`ll post the build a bit later today when im back on my pc.
Btw keep the diff profession builds comming as its a gd reason to dust off an old chr and put them to use.

For farming Jaya Bluffs solo, I tend to like to use:

[VwK][spirit rift][ancestors rage][channeling][physical resistance][mindbender][soothing memories](optional)

Max AL, 40/40 weapon set as well as an enchanting weapon set. I forget the attribute spread but it was something like max resto, max (or near max) chan and the rest in inspiration. Good, 20 minute run for some quick cash.

Tried the 600/Smite_hero thing with my Necro today for the first time on Nahpui and got a bit more than stack of feathers, 3-5 drops of 19-20 feathers on each run, in around ~2h(might have been a bit more but i think i was doing around 30-35 minutes on each run).

Still a noob with farming on the necro so i guess someone experienced can do it a lot faster.

I average 20-30 feathers and 12-20 feathered crests....56-90 feathers per run (assuming the crests only give 3 feathers, but 50% of time its 4 so totals are a bit higher). Also, consider the blue/purple armors (pretty often with radiant/survivor/vitaes/minor vigors) and about 1-3 golds per run (just for the +1 wisdoms), and dyes (a black two days ago and a white yesterday - loads of other colors) and this is a pretty kick-ass 10-15 min run. I use a cupcake to get around between the mobs quicker and it helps to time the run. I start straight out, not left past the shrine, there is a bird mob hitting a yeti just as i'm getting there every time, kill them then head straight and then left on the bridge, pass the yetis on the other side and go right up the hill to the bird mobs - that's the way I go...the rest of the route tends to follow what others have shown. I haven't actually counted but there's at least 12 mobs to hit along the way, probably more. I usually do a rune/insignia/goldie giveaway in town before heading back out. Fun run and with feathers selling today at 11k per stack (that's the WTB!) - it's not too shabby.

It's 16 mobs, 18 if you bother to go get the ones that fight the Ranger Yeti boss on the ice and then move to the mob on the otherside of the pond. But Ifind those groups, and the slow down of the ice, to not be worth the time it takes. I can get the 16 mobs in 12 minutes but going off to get those other two mobs adds 5-6 minutes to the run.

Triple Chop Wammo works fine in Jaya Bluffs. Due to the weakness, you don't kill them _that_ fast. But you can kill 2-3 groups at the time easy which a 105 monk can't do due to the 50 dmg touch kill the necros use.

solo rit farmer. made about 300k+ more than a year ago farming the Tengu outside LA in HM farming feathers.

can take on most bosses that may spawn (except Tengu ele & monk; mes boss is doable, but difficult). scalps also salvage for 2-3 feathers, so never sell them to merch.

lots of runes drop, so it's a very nice overall spot, I'd say. easily 3k+ per run just selling junk to merch. about 9k per feather stack, so it's profitable.

Started GW 3 years ago and build my wealth initially from scale but never look back after I discovered feather farming. Lowest count will be 70+ and highest 160+ feathers per run (15-25 mins). Lots of radiant, survivor insignias, occasional vigor and pricey runes and lots of black and white dyes. Mobs average about 18 in all. Anyone saying different and getting less may not be doing the run right.

Right out side of LA on the way to the settlement (Perma Sin / poison w vipers defense) 10 k wurth off of goodies and all in less than 30 minutes. May have to try this again I also took my salvaged loot to the material crafter in the next zone and made better stuff to sell at the merchant but crap 10k is nothing to laugh at for this little of work.
