HoM, GW2 and NCsoft master accounts
Improvavel
I didn't have any problem getting my free pane, but loads of people are having problems.
From people that forgot their NCsoft account name, to people that have the email associated with the NCsoft account lost by one reason or the other, to people that combine the previous. Also some people have a NCsoft account, think its the account that is associated with their GW account but then no GW account is associated and said GW account is associated to some "mysterious" NCsoft account.
Of course the fact the NCsoft accounts changed from email accounts (old PlayNC if I'm not mistaken) to something else doesn't help.
The support solution seems to be:

If you do not remember your NCsoft account name, you will need to contact support. To do so, use the Ask a Question tab and enter the green information below into the Subject and Question fields. In the account information fields, be sure to enter your account information. If you are unable to provide a piece of information, please explain why in your submission.
Subject:
I forgot my NCsoft master account name.
Question:
Here is my account information:
First and last name: ENTER FIRST AND LAST NAME HERE
Physical Address: ENTER POSTAL MAILING ADDRESS (not e-mail address) HERE
Date of birth: ENTER DATE OF BIRTH HERE
Serial codes/access keys: ENTER CODES/KEYS HERE
Unique Account ID(s): ENTER UNIQUE ACCOUNT ID(s) HERE
For descriptions of each of the account information fields listed, click the link below.
Of course that is if you didn't "lie" on your details and forgot what those false details were. (ok it isn't anet or NCsoft fault)
But then there is the little detail of people with a pile of boxes with codes - which code belongs to what account and whatnot.
Is this the same system that will transfer your achievements from Guildwars to Guildwars2?
This seems a bit of a cluster RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO.
Why can't people even know from inside GW to what NCsoft account is that GW account linked to.
I know its security features but when the email linked to a ncsoft account isn't valid anymore, shouldn't that ncsoft account be terminated and the games linked to it released?
I don't know, this just seems a mess.

Yeah, that DOES make it sound like that much more of a problem.
I sent a complaint to support about two or three days ago, haven't gotten a response yet.
Edit: Woohoo, ~6:27 tonight, I was able to get my master account info. The problem still exists though. I think it'd be hard to transfer achievements from GW to GW2 if a universal system for transfer wasn't made known ahead of time, and everyone wasn't able to get on board. Whatever system it may be, the way to access it should be made known long enough before the release of the game.

It seems that the purpose of the free pane was to make people get an NCsoft account. I can think of several reason for them to do so.
It is also true that not even a week has elapsed and that for that reason their support is probably overwhelmed and many of the situation will be solved in time.
But wouldn't it be better, that if an update made a message pop up, asking people that don't have a free pane yet, if they would like to release that GW account from any NCsoft account at this time and make a new one?
Or would be that too much of a security risk? Are there so many hijacked accounts out there? Would something like this make it easier to hijack a GW account?
Cause if it wouldn't, I would see loads of advantages in doing this.
For those wondering why I started this, my personal interest stems for a problem a friend of mine has - she lost the email account linked to the ncsoft account (playNC at that time) cause she moved ISP.

Add the people who are absolutely sure they never made an NCsoft account in the first place and are now told their GW account is already tied to an NCsoft account. I know I'm not the only one. |

I was amazingly lucky to remember my old account name. Day 1 was a huge mess with insane lag on the website, and days 2 and 3 were spent trying to figure out my account name, then the password.
Its a mess though, can't anyone just add a GW account and link it to some cheesy profile even if it isn't theirs? That could be a big problem, I can't confirm if this is like that, just what ive observed :S

lot of online games use the concept of key codes, some offline computer games too

My password was blocked or changed because it had symbols, and the new site does not allow them. Well, duh, NCSoft, my password doesn't match your records because you bloody well changed it!
Password reset resolved fine, but it's just funny.

I had Plaync account because of the ingame store, and i had registered at NCsoft the time RGTR was about to end.
Still i never had associated my GW account to NCSFOT. When i login at NCSoft and try to link my GW account it says it was already associated with another account.
I still dont have the free pane probably not the only one but after i sent all the info to them am still waiting for a response (2 days and counting).

I know it doesn't help after the fact, but seriously, just put in correct information, and keep track of your shit.
It's not hard.

Well, you know, to put in correct information, it's pretty essential to make an account in the first place. Which I never did. I've never even been on any NC site before last thursday. Yet, amazingly, my GW account is tied to some mysterious NCsoft master account. How am I supposed to be keeping track of shit like that?

You know, I seriously hope we can enter our GW1 account login info straight into the GW2 client.
PlayNC's site is just.......annoying.

Got the pane this morning. I made shure i wrote all that crap down this time.

Most likely then will let you log on to GW2 with exactly what you do to log into GW1. Even if it did use you NCSoft account, it would be your own fault if for some stupid reason your don't know it by then.
Gli
Yeah, of course. Not being able to access your GW through an NC account because it's already tied to an account you never made, and not getting any support because you can't provide them any details about this NC account (because you never made it!), that's obviously your own damn fault.

Many of us had originally created a user name with an email address. At some point, it was changed to a completely different name, with the old name being too many characters to enter. I did manage to figure out my new user name; however, when I got to the password hint, I'd no clue to a hint I didn't create.
I finally got mine resolved after several emails via the NCSoft site. Even after giving them the info requested per the Support link (real name, DOB, address, etc and game keys), they still couldn't find my account. Huh?
What did it all come back to for a fix? The email address that was too long to fit in the new user name box...which, btw, had more letters/numbers allocated for better security than this new one allows.
What's the old saying? If it ain't broke....don't fix it !!!

Meh, after days i managed get my account info, but it wont take those damn codes.

I know this doesn't really help the discussion at all but this thread just turned on a lightbulb and allowed me to find my long lost nc account. ty op.
EDIT: I just logged in to try to get my panel; the option to enter the coupon code is no longer there. I thought we had untill the end of may?

personally, and my ally members agree, i think it was lame to have to go to the ncsoft website...why not the ingame store...do they really need to lure people to the website who already own the game?? honestly?? and if you're gonna do it this way...maybe, just maybe now, you should upgrade your servers...
that is all

It is supposed to - just to clarify, are you doing it through the NCsoft store? You can go to there following the instructions from this page http://www.guildwars.com/products/ex...orage_pane.php.
Hope it helps |

What I got from it was that it's a convoluted process with too much margin for error on the customer's part. That's the premise I think is silly, and is what my post was directed at. Putting in "fake" information? Forgetting a password? Password recovery doesn't work due to a changed email account without updating subscriptions tied to it? All these things with an account tied to a game that you enjoy and play? Sucks to be you. (Not you specifically, as I said, but rather the collective 'you')
Though surely support will be able to sort your situation out?
Extra lulz will be awarded if you actually did create an account and have forgotten doing so.

My friend sent a ticket to the support they asked loads of info. Now the interest thing is she has 3 accounts . So she will send the pile cd-keys as she doesn't know which belong to which and let them sort out. Lets see how that works.
About the promotion not showing anymore, in a recent post in the their website concerning the ncsoft difficulties it clearly says until 31 May. Guess you need to send yet another ticket to support.
And about the fake information bit well for example the address in my ncsoft account is, or rather was, a random string of letters.
I believe in restricting my information unless I have a serious reason not to. When I created that ncsoft account I didn't give much importance to itt (it was before buying something on the online shop).
