Guild Wars Opinion Survey
Skye Marin
I was wondering some community opinions, so I made a survey here:
Demo version can only take 100 responses. I'll post the results soon.
In a few weeks, I'll post the results. Questions range from PvE to PvP and the new updates. Enjoy!
And the responses:
I found this one to be kind of surprising. I think Anet is way above average.
While most people think they are a fair PvP rewards, most don't want the value of Zaishen Keys to go back up. I think more rare and unique items to be found in the Z-Chest would bump up the price of the keys, which would be good for me, because I sell them.
More uses for Skill Points is really high on the list, which is kind of surprising. I personally wish you could trade in Skill Points and a bit of gold for a consumable you can increase Reputation titles on other characters on your account. Like a Flame of Balthazar, but only good until rank 8.
Maybe something like: 1 skill point + 25 bones + 100g = 500 points.
Trading improvements, Survivor, and Hench skill bars follow, which I think are all possible, given the size of the latest update.
Also, I suppose I should have been more clear that you are able to pick "up to" 3, so you could have left this one blank if you didn't want any of these improvements.
So the community is pretty split on this one. This issue would be impossible for ANet to enforce, so the only real solution would be similar to what they did for people botting the Factions titles. Remove the mechanism, and then improve the rewards elsewhere. Basically, if you /resign before 4 minutes, you get dishonourable. Then, double and triple commander points for people above a certain commander rank, and improve faction and AT rewards. Then, fix the format and exploits and imbalances there.
The split was a success! Hurray!
Zaishen Quests are also a success. Doing the math, if you earn an Elite Tome and sell it for 10k, then your bronze Z-coins are worth just under 10g each, which is also the most profitable thing to do with Z-coins. Of course, if you are able to sell a +20 pack for more than 100k, that's another option, but if you're in it for cash, there are faster ways to make money.
By saying "like to see more changes" I was intending to ask if people who play certain formats are happy where they are right now. Maybe I worded it wrong.
The strongest consensus on this whole survey is that we want more buffs and reworks to useless skills.

Done, some interesting opinions in there.

- Some of the questions are quite bad, like "which of the following improvements would you like to see?" and being able to tick them doesn't give meaningful information.
- When making survey, refrain from pre-defined opinions and instead use scale for questions like "do you like the way z-keys were implemented"
- Avoid ambiguity. "I wish to see changes in GvG" - without knowing what changes the person wants, this information has no value.

Done. Didn't really like all the choices... Like the ones about PvP/PvE skill split. Seems like it was only hardcore black/white choices.

Good idea!
However, if I can make one suggestion as a possible improvement - some of the 'check all statements you agree with' seem a little binary. There are a lot I don't strongly agree with but don't strongly disagree with either.
Also, is the survey protected against ballot-stuffing? Wouldn't put it past some people...

Done, you're welcome. Can't wait to see the results.

Hope you post this on every well known GW forum, and mail the results to anet. And of course, post them here.
Great idea/survey.

Also done. Bit strange though; you go into detail about certain updates, but leave others completely unmentioned.
Anyhow, looking forward to the results.

Done. Only thing I didn't like what "What would you like Anet to add"
I didn't like any. So I chose 3 at random...

The survey is closed already?
Anyway, I was wondering how you're planning to reach the less "hardcore" people (a.k.a. the people not using the forums), otherwise you'll end up with a pretty screwed view of what the community thinks/wants/needs.

Survey about what exactly? And for what purpose? I am deeply supicious of such things.
That link goes to a site that requires javascript, which I do not enable for any site unless I'm sure I can trust them. Who knows what it's going to execute on my PC.
I don't know about that site, can't see anything there because I'm not going to enable javascript for it... but some such sites require you to create a "free account" or whatever to continue. And in order to do that, the masses will use the same email address as their GW login, and even the same password... in which case they just said bye bye to their GW account...

You don't need a login, when I did it it just took me to the page. I did survey, clicked Done. There we go.

Turns out I can only take 100 responses before the demo runs out. I'll post the answers soon.

While I didn't actually fill out a survey, it looks like the results are more-or-less in line with my own thoughts.
However, with the aforementioned comment about some of the questions being binary, I wonder at how firm the evidence for your conclusion that people don't want the price of zkeys to go up is. It's possible that a lot of people who don't really mind either way simply left it unchecked - it's what I was going to do before I realised how that might lead to a misleading set of statistics, for instance.

You know a poll of 100 people, if they were just faster than others, has absolutely no meaning?
JoeKnowMo
I didn't get to vote in this poll and therefore declare it null and void.
Although the results are mostly what I'd expected :P

looking at the results is intersting... it seems everyone who took the poll, seem to be pretty pleased with the way the game is currently... especially with the Z Keys as a nice currency alternative.
The only big fixes for ANET (from this polling) would be to keep reworking/buffing the unused/crap skills while keeping the skills PvP/PvE split.
In other words, maybe make some of the skill rebuffs kinda like PvE only skills so it does not mess with the PvP meta too much... and some of rebuffs for PvP have a completely different functionality for more options to play the game.

Vanquisher
Well, they could also fix game mechanics in general, but that won't happen.
Yawgmoth
TERRIBAD choices of answers there, especially on the question about ZKeys - they're like random and unrelated to each other - there could just aswell be an option "All of the above". And at the same time not giving even 1 good option for people who want to express the obvious problem that is hte XTH ruining value of ZKeys.
Same with question 6 - one could want to choose more than just 1 option - they don't exclude each other.
So overall: Pure nonsense, zero thought given to it.

The majority of the people answering those questions are absolutely mentally retarded.
The PvE/PvP split is a massive failure. This is not an opinion - this is a fact. All your "opinions" are incorrect.
Also, take into account that 90% of the people on Guru don't know how to play Guild Wars, including 90% of the people who answered your survey.

99% of those are so far away from what I voted... x.x
DreamWind
Not surprisingly, I disagree with nearly every popular answer. The 2 in particular that come to mind are the skill split question and the skill balance question, both of which I strongly disagree with. I also question what you determine a success. You say something is a success if most people voted for it?

You know, if you don't agree with a statement in a "check all that you agree with", then you simply don't check one.
You're allowed to leave all the checks blank if you do not agree with all the statements.
Consider each statement a separate question, which checked as agree, and not checked as disagree.
I call for lock/delete.
