Math wise, which is worth it?

We're now being offered xunlai storage for 10 bucks per, up to 4...
Now those of you who are storage conscientous might've already figured this out... but when you pay that 10 bucks, sure it's contributing to a great company, but thats only 20 slots compared to 45. When I first read the update notes and saw it was being sold for $USD 10, I was conflicted because of the math involved.
Purchase a storage slot... 20 slots of extra inventory
Purchase a char slot... 45 slots when you spend roughly 1.3k (in game currency). (Plus more with the new equipment storage..., so up to 65 slots vs 20...)
Albeit there is the added convenience that you don't have to log off and on to swap inventory, but is that convenience worth spending? I'm requesting that anet lower the price for the storage to $USD 5.00. And for those that rushed and purchased the extra storage, I'm requesting either credit in the store, or a refund on the difference, which shouldn't be hard to do.

I will admit I have access to 5 accounts due to my friends leaving the game, 2 of those accounts other then the BMP, (I didn't purchase the BMP on my alt) are completely mine because I do like to give Anet my money to keep support within the game. But after logging in after a couple of weeks break and finding this, I'm feeling conflicted... I would love the extra storage, without character swapping... but is it worth the amount it's being advertised as?

You make a great point. I didn't think of that. It is obviously a better idea just to buy a character slot if both are sold for 10 dollars.

Wow, a whole thread specifically for something that was already worked out 89798702348 times in the OTHER storage threads.

This argument is moot anyway. It's optional, you don't HAVE to buy it. It's just another option. Personally I like the convenience of extra storage slots, especially for selling... having access to 245 slots of storage at one time is WAY easier than trying to hop around characters to sell crap to people.

There is no maths answer because the two aren't equivalent, and there is no empiric way to measure the value of the convenience offered by the two options. It is up to you to determine which option is best for you (and "buy nothing" is an option too).

If you simply want more storage, I'd recommend you hop over to Newegg.com or some other similar store and buy another copy of Prophecies Game of the year edition for 10 bucks. If you do so soon (before may 31), you'll get 4 additional character slots, (which is UP TO 65 extra storage slots per character) as well as 2 storage panes, an extra material pane and the free 4th birthday pane. That's quite a deal for 10 bucks, and isn't really that much less convenient than having mules. So in this case, 10 bucks buys you a maximum of
4 x 65 slots + 3 x 20 slots + Extra material storage pane (good for a stack of every single material if you want).
Also, if you're a tournament predictor, you'll get extra z-keys each month for the 2nd acct. So that's 320 inventory spots plus a material storage tab plus the option for extra z-keys. Sounds like a good use of 10 bucks to me. Good Hunting.

Yeah i thought this when it came out. And i know you've already shot down the person who mentioned GWx2, but i use that method, two accounts, 1 unused with 4 chars sitting around...Holding my stuff.

You missed out a major point. Storage panes doesn't let you store more money while a character slot lets you store a 100k more.

But seriously I get the point, while (as Immortius said) you can't really measure the convenience of having an extra slot I can't seeing anyone wanting it so much as to give up all the other (more profitable) ways of getting extra storage.
byteme!
Maybe this is one of Anets ploys to get some of you to go out and buy new accounts for storage instead of paying 10$ for the storage panes? If you haven't noticed after reading through this forum..............IT WORKED!
