Kurzicks & Luxons
woofyhugger
Hey Guys.
This is my first time running through factions (just up to Naphui (sp?) mission at the moment). My question is, during factions do you need to join either the Kurzicks or the Luxons and if so, is one more beneficial than the other? I see people in the town areas bagging out one or the other, I am assuming they are both the same, and it's a matter of just choosing a side?
Ps. I prefer the look of the Luxon armor on the Ritualist I am running through Factions with
Cheers

you do not have to choose one or the other, just the order that you do them in. you can befriend them both by doing both befriending the luxons and befriending the kurzicks
Eragon Zarroc
u can switch back and forth at anytime you like. whichever u choose, that choice won't be set in stone ;-)

Ahh sweet, I never knew that. If I pick up a Luxon skill, and then go and befriend the Kurzicks, do I lose the Luxon skill or does it change to a Kurzick one?
Killamus
You get both, but you can only have one of that skill.
I.E. you can't have the luxion version of summon spirits and the kurzick version of summon spirits on the same bar, but you can have the kurzick version of summon spirits and the luxion version of spear of fury on the same bar.
Read the wiki on it, it's much more detailed and coherent then my description.

I think that you should do the Luxon questline first, and maybe do some Alliance Battles or Competitive Battles (Jade Quarry/Fort Aspenwood) on the Luxon side, since you want their armor. Although you will have to join a guild in a Luxon alliance before you can do Alliance Battles, it's a better way of getting faction than doing repeatable quests (if you are good at it).
You Luxon and Kurzick skills are skills that are profession-dependant and title-based. Treat them as if they are the same skill but with different attributes. You can't have a skill twice on your skillbar (unless you Echo, Arcane Echo or Arcane Mimicry anyway), so putting one on will just remove the other.
BTW: You never "switch" between Kurzick and Luxon in-game. It's just a choice of doing other quests, being in another guild or doing Competitive Battles for the other side. And the Luxons will only ever refuse service to you if you are not rank 1 friend of them or if you have more unspent faction with the Kurzick.

To be honest, I havent really done any PvP so I don't know how I'd go.. maybe doing the quests will be a better option?

Quests are fine. I've heard that there are just too few lux quests to get you to the 10,000 faction mark for Befriending the Luxons, but if you don't feel like PvPing you can just do some repeatable quests a few times.
Lux Aeterna
Definitely go Luxon because Luxon FTW.

One other thing to note is there are often different elites available depending which side you go down. The Kurzick side has Attuned was Songkai, Clamor of Souls, and Spirit Light Weapon. The Luxon Side has Grasping was Kuurong and Consume Soul. Both sides have Preservation, Ritual Lord and Vengeful was Khanhei.
When choosing a side, I'd base some of my decision on which Elite Skills I want first.

I personally went luxons first(On my warrior) firstly because I have a good buddy(from another game[SOCOM]) that was big on the luxon side and he know his way around there. So I personally went Luxons first due to knowing this friend of mine would help me out.
But anyway back on topic you will be able to get through both sides of that area You just need to be going through one without the other guild from what I've seen. In case you're wondering what I mean; some one in a Luxon guild will not be able to do too much in the Echovauld Forest(e.g. sell stuff to merchants). As for taking the primary quests? I have the faintest idea.

The Scorpion Knight
You can change one to the other, personally I'd go with Luxon, I just like the layout better with the Jade Sea.
