There are Angels in GW

Well, I thought it was a nice story. And yes, there are indeed many very nice people in the game. I've met a few myself.
As many of the posts in this thread are proof of, though, there are also a lot of cynics who can't believe that someone could possibly be good just from the heart.

Most people are only nice to people who are nice to them. Don't expect alot of people who would "turn the other cheek", like a saint, in real life if you are nasty to them, so nastiness breeds nastiness in the forums.

I think the original post was nice, a nice topic, written in a nice way, about a nice thing that happened, with a nice person.
People spend far too much time and energy on the negative. Nice things happen every day too, but don't get mentioned... sometimes because when you put your head over the parapet to say "YAY GOODNESS!" the misery-mongers spring up out of nowhere to smack a dose of cynicism on it and try to pull you down, or to twist what was good into something bad. These people tend to be the sort who can only believe there is badness everwhere, because that's all they know - and all they want to know.
I choose to believe that a good person did a kind thing because it was a nice thing to do. I hope the good karma they put out comes back to them threefold.

I once told a guy he was selling a Elemental Sword for way too much and explained to him that they had dropped in price a significant amount. After telling him the tale of Esword farming, and GW:EN Esword farming and that they were a common drop from easily farmed areas, his response was "go [email protected] yourself noob." Before I could reply and let him know that I wasn't scamming, and that I wasn't even interested in the sword, I was ignored and left with a screen of "noob noob noob noob noob." And then seconds later "WTS: r9 ELEMENTAL SWORD 100k+150e."
Yea, people are really nice. Guildwars has best community in the world.

I'm an Angel, not just because of my user name on here. I help anybody I encounter, I give away tonics, weapons, runs and help on missions because I'm bored. I'm currently studying so I don't have much free time to game on Guildwars, even though I've played Gw for around 4 years, have maxed titles and have all games+expansions.
I guess I just enjoy playing the game every now and then now, and like helping people out. I agree with what has been said here though, you do get idiots who make you wonder why you bother, but then...that's the internet eh? A breeding ground for retards.

I thought it was a nice story, too. Why is everyone being negative about it? Nice people exist in GW. They're around. You remember the jerks more often than you remember the nice people, but that doesn't mean nice people don't exist. I ran into an assassin who was glf more for Shiro - and then promptly ran the people who joined. He wasn't charging for a run, I didn't know he was doing a run, he just up and soloed Shiro for us. He could have charged. He didn't. Even if it was a practice run, he could still have charged 'upon completion'. Not a big thing, but it was still a surprise.
Yes, there are many cynical responses upcoming, I'm sure, and maybe it's more common than I think, or there's some nice long practical explanation for it - but that doesn't change the fact that it was a pleasant surprise.

There are loads of nice people in game. They just tend to keep quiet. They don't usually come to forums. They don't promote e-drama. They don't get their panties in a wad every time there's an update.
They just play. |
This made me laugh so hard... and i have to agree.
But the "true angel" (in my worthless opinion) would have been the person that did not bother the one with the lvl 18 pre (even though he had no way of knowing it was a lvl 18 pre before contacting said person) and just created the new name with an X or I in front or behind the wanted name and left the "Angel" alone to either not lose said lvl 18 pre or the expense of the name change.
But yes, nice story, if it had been me, I don't think i would have done it without you paying the cost of the name change. But then again, i also have a family to feed, the "angel" may not and tomorrow may not be a worry for them like it is for a majority of us.
