I second that intelligence an anyone who spends $10 just to change some cartoon looks really needs to see a doctor or a few of them.

well, I look at it like this. We didn't have to spend REAL money to continually play the game and so I saved money every month because of this. I took that REAL money and changed a character that I was totally dissatisfied with after I realized that no campaign in GW was going to offer decent looking armor for him. So I took my REAL money, made the changes and to be honest, I am quite happy with it. If you all don't want to spend your REAL money on this stuff, so be it, but just because someone else decided to doesn't meant that their intelligence is in question.

*shrug* There's a decent demand for it in MMOs and $10's not all that bad (be it for 5 tokens for everything but name & gender or for 1 token for everything but name) compared to what other games charge ($15 for 1 in WoW, though includes a name change and there's a game currency barber to do hair/face/special race details, and 1500 Station Cash ($15) in EQ2, as the most easily found examples). And when you consider that we don't have subscription fees on top of that...

I changed 4 of my characters once, and I'm much happier with the way they look. And I have 1 Makeover still left incase I get tired of one of the others or the 'new" looks. If it had been one character for 9.99 I wouldn't have bought it, but its worth it for each character being one makeover credit. It made some of my characters more likeable to be.

Only once but I think a basic style change really should be for ingame gold or trade items.

I guess if you really don't like the look of your char there is always the ninja mask or blindfold

I only bought the extreme makeover because my main character was a Mesmer. I made him male....he was ugly and I regretted making my title slave a male since most of their armors are better on females IMO. I was so happy when I finally got a female Mesmer with all the titles and work my Male accomplished.

I may get a reg makeover for a couple other chars but that's much later on.

TY again anet so I don't have to look at my ugly male mesmer anymore.

ALSO she looks really cool with canthan hairstyle and a tyrian face. I love it.

I've changed two chars once with the stylist npc.

There's no way I would be able to justify changing them more than once due to the cost. If there was some unlimited use stylist, I'd probably buy that and if that were the case, chances are I'd use it every day, maybe more.

I took just about every character that could to the makeover npc...just to see what could be changed....

Turns out that only my 3 prophecies ladies looked better with some of the other hair/color choices (come on now--there are like 3 choices with a variation of each in prophecies)....so my ele, mesmer (clipping issues) and my necro went for the hair color/style change, kept the face, coloring, size all the same. My canthan monk really likes one of the nightfall hairstyles (and since her hair color isnt available in prophecies or nightfall--she might change since I have 2 changes left).....

yes I spent the money--me bad.

Btw, i do think its a little expensive, but considering i can earn the costs in 1hour - and if you check how much i sit and play GW then im pretty sure its worth it^^

Well, I've still got three credits left - I changed my Ranger completely (new face, skin, hair, etc) and gave my Mesmer a new hairstyle since her old one clipped badly through armor.

Funnily enough, it was only my Tyrian characters that I ended up changing. Prophecies really has the worst options for appearances in the game...

I'm not going to spend money on the stylist - I spent quite some time choosing my characters in the first place.

Tell me about it. I spent ages over my monk before I found the only combination I liked. Before the stylist, I played around with the character screen to see if I could create another Proph monk that I actually liked.

I couldn't.

I'm still incredibly fond of my monk, though - I think she looks different (she's neither a bun monk nor a Canthan monk...)

Once.

My main character is a 4-year-old Ranger ie. Tyrian. I always preferred the Canthan faces, but they weren't an option when I created the character. So I bought a makeover pack, and changed her face (and nothing else) to a Canthan one. Now she looks much nicer, I'd wanted to do that for a long time, but not so badly that I'd reroll my main character along with all skills/titles/achievements just to change her face. And besides, I like having the Tyrian hairstyle with the Canthan face.

Now I have four spare makeovers. Got no particular desire to use them yet, but I probably will on another character sometime, just for sh*ts and giggles.

He's probably saner than someone claiming to report plenty of people and then come to fansite to shout that they did report them.

We all have different viewpoints on virtual characters, avatars and pixels. But coming here, in this thread, to show in a clumsy way that you believe your opinion is better than his (or else, why would you express it?) only shows your narrowmindedness.

None yet, though I plan to update my main real soon.

I'm sure I'll find a use for the other four credits. :P

Though, I think it's irritating that people are saying it's stupid to spend ten dollars to update their characters. The whole point of playing a character is to make it just the way you like. I think the fact that people spend hours upon hours grinding for titles is more absurd than shelling out ten bucks for a far more obvious change.

Besides, most players at this point in the game's lifespan have spent ages working on their characters. Maybe their tastes have changed from when they first started playing, and it's worth it to them because they want the object of their labor to look precisely the way they want?

Just sayin'.

Also, I thought it was a ripoff as well when I first heard that it costs $10 to remake a character. But after discovering that you get five makeover credits for that cost, I'm convinced it's a fair deal for those who care.

Now, $15 to change a character's name, that's another story...

And while we're questioning ppl's intelligence, how 'bout those that say "just reroll" as opposed to spending 10 bucks. Considering a reroll would take, conservatively, 100 hours for even a slightly pimped char. And considering that, at the US minimum wage, you can make $2 (cost of one makeover) in less than 20 minutes...

Epic fail ECON101....

People like to change the appearance of their characters, through armour, weapons, capes etc. I don't see people being called unintelligent because they change the appearance of their characters in this way. Yet apparently they become morons, if they pay some peanuts to change their hair/face/whatever using makeover kits.

Just sounds like sour grapes from people who want everything in the game to be free. Nothing wrong with having that point of view (although I don't agree with them)... but calling people stupid because they choose to spend a few $ on some frivolous luxury, I consider that childish and petty. Everyone (bar the truly destitute), spends money on frivolous luxuries - whichever ones suit them. Just because people buy luxuries that I personally wouldn't... is no reason for me to call them stupid.

At $2 a change, it doesn't sound all too bad actually. Either way, I was careful enough at character creation that I have no desire to change any of my characters. However, if we were given the ability to choose hairstyles and faces from other classes, that would be an entirely different matter.

I changed my ele, derv, and mesmer. Although I wasted 4 credits messing w/ my Mesmer and derv <.< They look better though, so it's worth it.

I don't see why its so "stupid" to want to change your chars looks. So what you have to buy $10? Boo-friggin-hoo, I'd rather pay that then stare at the same hair for 2+ years. Also re-rolling is out of the question. I'm not maxing 17 titles over again, also my ele was made in proph, therefore I didn't have much to choose from.
People like changing their looks, which is why we have barber shops, plastic surgery irl. Guess all those people are stupid too eh?

As for me...

Changed ELE once...she is blazing hawt now

Changed my monk 5 times because I thought she would look better with different hair style and color...nope
5th time I changed her back to her original look <3

although I would prefer to be able to use in game currency like gold or even Zcoins....the makeover feature is fun stuff and don't regret spending the money at all
