Hi all,
So, NCsoft is restricting almost asian country I believe, including Japan.
I tried to get the free storage, but as pointed in recent thread in Riverside in, I can only get the "Buy from these retailers: Best buy, Amazon, etc etc". So I pretty much gave up on the free storage.
However, now I want to get a makeover/BMP, and there's no other way but to pay direct in the GW's program. I am really cautious toward this. I'm on Mac, and I install windows basically just for GW. So, as you can imagine, my Windows is pretty much vulnerable as an emo.
What I'd like to ask is whether they have very secure encryption or something when you input your credit card datas? otherwise I'd not want to risk it.
Thanks in advance for looking!

Is the payment through GW's program safe?

You can run Guild Wars using Crossover Games or WINE on Mac (not sure about with Wine, but that's what Crossover is based off I think. See Crossover compatibility here: http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibi...e/?app_id=1658 ). Not sure about the free storage since that was an NCSoft store thing, I don't think you can get it retail.
It is safe. I've been buying stuff online for a couple years and I've never been scammed. And this isn't a purchase either. For the makeover ones, yes it is, but I think you're safe.
If you still are uneasy, better solution: friend with relatively secure Windows? Get it on their computer to do these things. Or get a prepaid card like netspend and use that to buy stuff. Or get a friends or parents card with their permission. For a safe Windows, it's not that hard either. To begin with, I would suggest Outpost Firewall (LOVE IT, will not use anything else till the day I die), AVG/Avira for antivirus, and Spybot for anti-spyware (Webroot Spysweeper or Malwarebytes Antimalware are other options, Combofix for nasty infections that don't go away). Eraser to shred files (I use the 7 pass Schneier)

About your free storage problem:
Did U try typing: Freestorage (or something) in the Coupon box?

GW is from a multi-million dollar company. their encryption to keep your credit cards safe doesnt work and they have peoples information stolen constantly and they are not shut down by the government and there is no law in place for the safe-keeping of peoples credit card information over the internet.
in other words, YES, buying through almost any online store (amazon, ebay, ncsoft online) is perfectly safe

Already downloaded the trial. one little drawback is the FPS, it's constantly failing from 20-9.. where if I run it from Windows it's constant 90FPS.. I am not sure what causing this since I didn't even open a web browser and all.. Other will be the print screen button.. might be a silly question, but where does it located on Mac, I'm not sure..
But with that said, I don't think it can beat the convinience to not needing to switchback and forth from Windows to Mac and waiting for it to restart, etc.. So, I'll give the program couple days to convince me further and I'll see how it goes.
Meanwhile, any further comments/inputs is very much welcomed
PS:
this is the thread that exactly happened to me if anyone reading this still haven't clear: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10369691

Oh yes I've heard of people not having a print screen button even on windows. For screenshots? You can make it another key in options. Try -BMP as a command line too (not sure how you can do this within crossover but it's easy on windows side). It takes larger filesize screenshots but they don't' have any quality loss like the stupid jpegs do (I CRINGE, plus I can post a screenshot of how bad it can be). Plus if you convert them to PNG you can save filesize or if you archive them you can get them even smaller than the PNG version (archived BMPs that is)!
And about your Asian country PlayNC problem, that is stupid! I can't really say anything but maybe if they get enough negative feedback they'll extend the freestorage promotion first or fix the problem. Oh and the programs I mentioned above are all FREE so you can get them set up quickly on your windows side.
