Just got the game

Been playing trial which you can only play in PVE and wow PVP just flat out sucks very disappointed in it.... every one is the same level cant explore and kill people where ever you want... I dont think ill be playing this game that long. I just dont see the point to PVP in this game At least I only bought this game for $10.

Try WoW buddie, or WHO, GW PvP is different than that unbalanced crap.

the PvP is just different. WoW PvP is "lol-i-has-teh-1337est-equipment-i-pwn-u". GW PvP is builds and strategies. low end pvp (arenas) are pretty boring. but the higher end stuff (8v8) is pretty fun

Yeah, you can't take your level 80 and smash other people that are level 10 in this game. You got the wrong game if that is what you are looking for.

Everyone at the same level = someone can't pwn you just because they're a few levels higher than you.

The game's instanced as well, so idk how the heck you expected to be able to gank someone...

All in all, if you had read any review at all before buying, you would have known these things. Sounds like you want WoW, so go play that.

Is this a QQ thread because Guild Wars pvp actually takes skill compared to WoW?

Look, little kids who need to go all "I IZ 1337 I-I/-\X012Z" on little lvls need to go and play WoW solo, WHO, LOTRO, or RS. Gw is for people willing to actually use skill in their gameplay.

Its true. If you aren't good enough to kill someone your own level then any place that pits you against players half your level is right for you

Ah yes, the kind and gentle GW community really shines in this thread.

Seems kinda premature to be forming an opinion about PvP when you haven't had enough time to get an idea about the BASICS of PvP. GW PvP isn't something where you can just jump in and pwn noobs. There's a whole lot of stuff to learn - skills, weapon upgrades, armor upgrades, tactics, team synergy, etc.

But, if you can't handle facing someone who is on an equal footing gear & level wise, then GW isn't the game for you. Unless you wanna go PvE, then you're in paradise!

Oh, and @Obrien: Don't send them to LOTRO, lol. From what I've seen that's actually a decent game, trying to be a resource for RPers; I'd actually subscribe to that (not to mention the OP'd probably hate Monster Play too). But go ahead and funnel them all to WoW/WAR all ya want. They deserve him.

When I first began playing GW, I too was a little put off by the lack of content it has versus other MMORPGs. Then, I discovered how much fun it can be. The amount of configurations of characters is phenomenal. And usually, the friendly players outweigh the grouches in game.

Forums on the other hand... not so much.

Stick with it, OP. PvP is a lot of fun once you get to the higher levels (lol, 20).

yeah because people love getting killed when they didn't ask for it, by somebody stronger then them. that style of playing is bullying really (unless you like getting randomly ganked).

Isn't PvP just a tiny part of the game? After 15 minutes of PvP I get bored and am looking for something meaningful or creative to do.

I just heard that lotro was a wow clone. I like lotr, and would play lotro once a decent private server came out and my friend gets it.

Well Pinged, as you've probably read here, PvP in GW is very different from other online RPGs in that you are on even ground with everyone you go up against. I, and most everyone who plays the game, prefer it that way. It's a nice change from the traditional flavor, and you find yourself actually becoming a skilled player instead of just acquiring ridiculously overpowered weapons and armor to use on underpowered foes.

I'd say PvP is pretty significant considering there are players who play on strictly PvP accounts. And it's something NcSoft has made a huge effort to work on since launch.
