A question came up today in our guild.
Only about 1/3 of the people still playing in our alliance have been able to claim the "free" storage pane.
Some of us, myself included simply do not have the information A-net requires to retrieve the account name. It has been 4 years since I bought GW I was stationed in FT Bening GA at the time, I have moved quite a few times since. I have multiple accounts and I have bought accounts for everyone in the house and well I don't remember my CD-Keys.
I know that is not A-nets fault and I am not blaming them for the fact that I lost that info.
The fact remains tho that many of us are NOT getting the free storage panel. I am sure this is true for many people in the game that are outside my alliance also.
So today the question that was brought up was:
Are you going to need access to the PlayNC account to carry your HoM and Achievements over to GW2 ?
Will Access To Ypur PlayNC Account be necessary to carry over your HoM to GW2 ?

It's pretty strange, I created a new PlayNC account yesterday (using link from the official GW website) and, eh, all it asked me for was account name and pw to link. =\ Has it changed? I remember one time I tried to create an account, it asked me for the CD key, but the storage panel only required me to link it to my account name and pw.

NCSoft support was able to provide me with my userid/password for my second account's PlayNC account. I did not provide any of my CD-keys. I was able to provide information sufficient to prove my identity and ownership of the account.

Hm, no, I was just wondering if they'd revamped the system, because last time I tried to create an account I had to link via CDkeys (which I didn't have on hand, so I gave up). This method is certainly more convenient.

I am not talking about creating an account. I already had made PlayNC accounts for both of my GW's accounts. I just couldn't recall the userid/password for the second one. PlayNC's support was able to help me without having the CD-keys.

This has been asked before, no answer.

I just hope ArenaNet will let people know the process FAR in advance: if the Free Pane caused so many problems, I can't imagine 6 million converting to Guild Wars 2 in one day!

more than likely it would be required. it seems like the easiest way that they will be able to connect the two games together. time will tell.
